they appear to have taken the product page down entirely now
Posted on 11/19/20 at 2:18 pm to StraightCashHomey21
the item page is down. Maybe adding some type of bot prevention?
Posted on 11/19/20 at 2:18 pm to StraightCashHomey21
They needed captchas

Yeah, it got removed from my cart just now and the product page disappeared.
I knew this process would be annoying and WalMart surpassed my expectations.

I almost gave up immediately as it said out of stock when I first refreshed it

The retailers need to realize they're not going to beat the scalpers and their bots with fancy captchas and quantity limits.
They beat them with brick and mortar in store purchases. Open up the stores.
If this is still going on by Christmas, then they truly don't deserve the money that people want to spend on these consoles.

It's amazing how shite walmart is doing this when you consider how much fricking money they have

They get their money. Doesn’t matter if it’s from you or the scalper, the console is sold.

I don't mean from a bot prevention standpoint just in terms of how terrible their site handles traffic. I was trying to pay for the console for 15 minutes and couldn't get through

This happened to me as well.

what time would a direct drop likely be?
Posted on 11/19/20 at 2:41 pm to Skyler97
it would have to be 4 or 5 if we're maintaining the between 10-6 theory. some are thinking 10:00 tonight because they've released in 4 hour intervals so far this week.
10am monday
2pm tuesday
6pm wendesday

Just to brighten the mood up around here....
PS5 Scalpers being robbed in Toronto
You just hate to see it. This is like reading penthouse.
But anyway, we need legislation prohibiting individuals from reselling popular products for more than 20% MSRP for the three months immediately after its release.
PS5 Scalpers being robbed in Toronto

The PS5 went on sale last week, and as expected, it was extremely difficult to buy one if you hadn't already pre-ordered. If you didn't, retail stock was depleted quickly, leaving the only avenue to next-gen ownership in the hands of scalpers. Those same scalpers are sometimes charging more than double the price for a PS5, which is sure to angry any self-respecting gamer.
One or more of those gamers in Toronto, Canada apparently got angry enough to actually start robbing scalpers. According to the Toronto Police, "numerous reports of robberies" have been received by the department from people "selling game systems online."

That will never happen.
Botting is against most sites ToS. If they would actually enforce it, it would solve a lot of problems.
The ironic part is that if a site made a major stand against bots and provided a smooth experience for normal consumers, it would build a lot of good will for their brand.

Their entire site and app crashing bc the server that host it is overwhelmed by fake generated bit traffic isn’t good for business
It impacts other shoppers

And it makes people less likely to come back. For example, this is the first time I've shopped online at Walmart and its very unlikely I ever do again based on this experience

Same Walmart will only get my money if going there or shopping online there is my last option
