It's definitely not bad it just had a lot to live up to.
The RE1 and RE2 remakes I'd give an A+ each. RE3 remake gets a B or B+. Not bad, but they definitely could have done better. The least effort put into it of the 3.

Yep. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. It’ll probably get 3 playthroughs out of me. I’m a sucker for remix modes and unlockables

I beat hardcore just now, which is effectively just like a harder version of standard mode. I'll give Nightmare and Inferno a go eventually. It's the modes where things get more interesting. Item locations are remixed and they increase enemy density and aggression.
Although Bad Box Art Mega Man is a prominent Easter egg throughout this game, there is no official costume for him, although there definitely should be.
Bad Box Art Mega Man Carlos is best Carlos.

Slightly longer if you do everything and take time. 8 hours for the completionist I watch. under 6 for the straight through the story chick I watch.
And no multiple characters like RE2.
So nope for me. Hard pass. Seems like they took a step backwards. One reviewer I trust felt like it was rushed to get some cash.
Nemesis was a set piece between zones not a constant threat like X.
Might be a decent enough game but i've got too many games in my backlog to even think about getting this until it hits the basement discount bin.

Yeah, it really felt more like a really awesome DLC pack than a full fledged game unfortunately.
They put in a ton of work on RE2 to make sure it was a full fledged experience. RE3 remake was phoned it somewhat. It was clearly built to hit a date, which explains huge swaths of missing areas. The content that is there is great, the issue is there's not enough of it.
People point to the inclusion of Resistance to justify the small campaign, but 1. Resistance is complete garbage and 2. It's multiplayer and RE is a single player franchise, its fan base primarily wants single player content.
I'm not holding my breath but maybe they'll add the Mercenaries mode the original game had, that would be awesome.
If you hold out a few months there's no doubt the price will come down, when it's like $30 or $40 it will priced more fair.

6 hours is still really fricking short. Not everyone loves to play multiple times with every difficulty.
People will spend $30 for a movie ticket and concessions for a 1.5-2 hour movie and all you can take with you is the memory of seeing it. $40-60 for a 6 hour game you own is outrageous though.

I played Hardcore for my first run and finished it tonight. I loved it. Game clock was right at 6hrs, but total playtime was 15hrs. I have a problem where I like to hoard all my stuff in resource-intensive games, to the point where I'll inconvenience myself until I pull off an optimal run (i.e. make it through a difficult area with 0 damage taken and 0 ammo used.)
Was probably a fair bit longer than 15 hrs as well since that time doesnt take into account all the times I loaded a save to retry a segment after taking a bite. It's an annoying personality tick, but I always do it on my first run of an RE game. For the last 2 bosses, I had enough shite to supply a small army lol, so I got to blast away with the grenade launcher and magnum with 0 worries
So 15hrs for my first run w/ a minimum of 4 more playthroughs (no recovery/item box S rank on Assisted, S rank Standard, S rank Nightmare, and S rank Inferno). Because of my OCD, I'll probably do an S rank re-run of Hardcore as well. I'll end up putting 25+ cumulative hours into it with no issue, so i'm getting my money's worth (paid $50 total after Best Buy coupons).
"Value" aside, I just really enjoyed it and think replays will be more enjoyable than RE2make replays thanks to the lack of puzzle item gathering, the increased action, and the very brief sewer section. Love the concept art/model unlocks and item shop that you get upon completion. Does it feel like there was some cut content? Sure. Feels like there should've been 1 more big Nemesis stalker areavas well as 1 smaller one (maybe have him show up in the Hospital). It's a very good game that could have been great, but still well worth the purchase for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the remake for 3 better than 2 (but both were great). I looked at the Nemesis model for like 20 minutes when I finished it. The detail is incredible.

While you are right, every review I have seen has said they enjoyed the game but it wasn't worth the full price.
Hell, I see on youtube one reviewer screaming about finishing in 3 hours.
This was a money grab. It is real hard to argue it wasn't. RE2 was a solid remake. They left out parts of RE3. And everyone assumes this is because they ran out of time because they wanted to hit a date. I bet the date turned out to be meaningless because they probably wanted to drop before Last of Us and Cyber Punk and those were delayed.
I tend to buy long RPGs so paying $60 for a short game isn't worth my time or money when I already have too many games gathering dust. Doesn't mean plenty of people won't think it is worth every penny. Just means it isn't worth it to me.

maybe if they played on Assisted or Standard. Hardcore is the "normal" difficulty, and I refuse to believe that anyone could beat HC on their first run in 3 hours.

it wasn't - I just think they dropped the ball on some key aspects. it had development overlap with RE2, it's not like they threw this together in a year. Guy from Capcom said RE2 was in development for 4 years, and RE3 got 3 years. Not sure of RE3 team size, but RE2 had 800+ people working on it, which is pretty crazy.
RE2 had plenty of unnecessary padding as well. It was originally going to be one combined campaign, then it became 2 campaigns which are 90% the same, then they added on 2 halfass B scenarios which are still very similar to the A scenarios. If they would've had the original 1 big campaign execution, it probably would've been very close to RE3. the speedrun times are pretty comparable (RE3s actually take a little longer for the most part, but people haven't optimized routes yet). People are crying about 3 because it has "so much less content than 2," even though the majority of 2's content was illusory.
Was RE3 missing an extra Single Player mode like Hunk/Tofu or Mercenaries? Yes. That hurts. Resistance doesn't count. Some alternative branching paths like the Live Selection system in the original 3 could've gone a long way for replayability. Instead of evading Nemesis through an alleyway, you have to lose him in a labyrinthine warehouse or something. Just 4 or 5 split moments like that could've been HUGE.

now this is true, and probably the biggest reason why they had to cut an area or two.
Like I said in my last post: very good game that could've been GREAT. Needed more time in the oven

Yes, it was a money grab because the bean counters won the delivery date argument. You admit as much. The date was more important than the final product.
None of my posts say it is a bad game. It is a short game. Real short. That doesn't bother some folks but it has been mentioned in 100% of the reviews I have read and watched
Every reviews has stated to wait until discounts unless you are a hardcore fan.
I'm not a hardcore fan. RE7 is the first game i ever played and as you know I loved the VR. RE2 was great but I don't have the nostalgia factor pushing me to purchase a short game.
That is just me. I mostly buy long games. Hell I tend to check how long streamers played a game to get an idea how long the games are. Of course there are some exceptions but most of the games I play are 50+ hours.
People who don't mind short games will probably love this one. Or maybe not, maybe too much fun cut way too short.

if thats how you want to define it money grab, then ok
when i think money grab, i think "same old shite" EA/Activision/Ubisoft sequels every year

just as short as a RE2 campaign lol. they just didn't copy/paste it 3 times with slight differences to make it seem like a treasure trove of content. instead, they utilized the difficulty levels to make mechanical changes and alter item/enemy placements.
