This is tough because 2 is so much more approachable than 1. 1 can be a real pain in the arse to get started.
Id try to play 1 but there is a story recap for it on 2
I think if you play through 1, you will appreciate 2 more. 2 is quite literally a direct sequel or "part 2" to the main story and is where the main plot of the first game is finally resolved.
If you play 1 first, you might get burned out on 2. They are very similar games. 1 is just a bit rougher around the edges and is more dry in tone than 2.
2 also has a lot more action than 1. In 1, you are essentially a baby grubworm that can barely hold a sword. The combat is also kind of bad. The developers realize this, and there are barely any instances in 1 where you are forced into combat.
2 has a lot more action. The combat isn't perfect in 2, but it's much more streamlined. The main character also starts out at a higher base skill level, so it takes far less time before you feel useful.

Yeah. My only worry is someone would try to play 1, not enjoy it, and miss out on 2 which is a much more polished game and better in the graphical area too.
I never finished 1. Made it to basically the end tho so was able to fill in the final parts with the recap
I think the games are close enough that if someone played 2 first they would have fun going back and playing 1 as a prequel.

I had this in my steam cart the other day but didn't pull the trigger. So now I am doing a 2nd cyberpunk playthough 2 years after my first. This will suck some time.

great game. really loving it.
i didnt play1 but got a quick synopsis of the events of 1 via youtube.
my only complaint....and this wouldnt register as a problem for some people, but god damn is this game long. too long. if yo u ignore alot of the side quests its more manageable. Its hard not to get involved in them though.

*laughs in having RPG OCD to where I cleared every single question mark in Witcher 3*

Do it, i was shocked at how much i liked it. I have not beaten it but love it. Combat was a bit hard for me to get used to, I am always in too much of rush so its my fault not the games.

This is what gives me pause. I can only game so much nowadays so the long ones take me forever. Took me 6 months to finish cyberpunk and 4 months to finish EXP 33, and it sounds like this is longer than both of those. May just wait till Black Desert drops in March

It gets much, much easier once you get some perks under your belt. Specifically the master strike.

Haven't played 2, but played 1 and got so frustrated with the movement and object interaction that I gave up.

Didn’t look to see if this was already said, but if Expedition 33 didn’t come out same year, would have had a real shot at Game of the Year and would have won more awards.
Really great game, with a good story.

I purchased both around the same time and still haven't gotten out of chapter 2 in E33 because KCD2 outshined it for me.
Probably due to the medieval setting though and not that it is a better game for everyone.

E33 is more polished, but it's a turn-based take on the soulslike genre. Soulslikes are a dime a dozen.
KCD2 felt like it had more heart poured into it. I would like to experience the story of E33 in an anime or movie adaptation though because I am told it's very good.

Yeah and the fact that it is a true RPG in terms of decision making and character building.

Downloaded it last night and was really excited to play based on feedback here, but yikes this first hour or so is rough.
Minus 1 annoying stealth mission it's been nothing but cut scene after cut scene. Please tell me the game isn't like a Metal Gear game that's only like 20% playable.

Do whatever you can to get Master Strike ASAP.

After I got thru all that and the scene at the castle or whatever it has picked up a bit. I took everyone's advice and headed directly to get the master strike. I've died more than I expected to tho lol.
