Colonization is easily my number 1 played game as a kid.
Second was a game that I want to say was called Civilization but it wasn't Sid Meier's Civilization nor a part of that series. I cannot find it anywhere on the Internet but it was from the early 90s.
ETA: It was Civilization: Call to Power and it turns out that was I very wrong about the release timeframe. It was actually released in 1999.

Doom.
Sim City.
Command and Conquer: Tiberium Sun.
Funny story about Doom: My grandmother came to stay at our house to watch my brother and I while my parents went out of town. I was in 6th Grade and my parents told me to show my grandmother our computer. So I showed her the first two levels of Doom and the whole time she was freaked out due to the violent nature of the game. What I didn't realize was that they wanted me to show her how I did homework on it. Not obliterate monsters.

What about Mad Dog McCree? Early 90s computer game. It was one of those games where they filmed REAL people. Blew my mind away at the time.
