I played it several years back in June and must have hit it at a good time, it was in fantastic shape.

Yeah, Chicago Golf Club makes me drool. Bucket list for sure.

Although, I really really want to play Chicago Golf Club
I’ve managed to finagle my way onto most of the great private clubs around here at least once (Skokie, Beverly, Bob O’Link, Olympia Fields, Flossmoor, Medinah, etc.), but Chicago GC is like trying to infiltrate the Kremlin in 1974.

I’ve been fortunate enough recently to ride the coattails of a pretty well connected friend and do three awesome golf trips in the northeast, Wisconsin, and SF/Monterey.
Northeast:
Fishers Island
Friar’s Head
National Golf Links
Cabot Cliffs
Cabot Links
Wisconsin
Whistling Straits
Blackwolf Run
Erin Hills
Medinah
SF
Pebble
Spyglass
Olympic Club - Lake
Pasatiempo
California GC
San Francisco GC
My favorites were:
Fishers Island - A classic track with amazing views. It was crazy windy, but still fun as hell.
Friar’s Head - Coore and Crenshaw’s best design IMO. The terrain perfectly fit their style and the course was immaculate.
Cabot Cliffs - Absolutely stunning. The closest I’ll probably get to playing one of my bucket list courses, Cape Kidnappers. Cabot Links is great as well. It’s not easy to get to but well worth it.
San Francisco GC - Amazing course and experience. Played after Olympic and my caddy said members of SF club are the bosses of members at Olympic...sure enough Condoleeza Rice and Charles Schwab step on the tee in the group behind us.

How was Cal Club? I listened to the Fried Egg podcast the other day with the guy that lead their restoration efforts. Was pretty neat story.

My dad played Shinnecock, said it was absolutely impossible but awesome.
This is by far the best I've had the chance to play. I'll agree with your dad... it was insanely hard.

I only got to play the resort course
There’s a 2 hole stretch that’s a mind frick
One hole is a par 5 that plays straight downhill, 500 something yards. I hit driver 4i over the green
Next hole is a 400 yard par 4 that plays back up that hill and I hit driver 3w and couldn’t get there

The Alotian Club.
I have heard about this club, the guy built it to be similar to Augusta in prestige and quality. was interviewed asking "how many members do you need to maintain the quality of the facilities here?" he replied "just me!"
hes a billionaire
