Well I guess nothing matters for Liv really because the metrics are already dead for it

PGA sent an email, seems like a strict set of criteria.

Question about Bryson: does the PGA Tour still have strict rules about things like personal podcasts? That was one of his big beefs when he left, and he makes a lot off of his podcast.

Should we talk about Koepka’s statement & how the Tour has improved with new leadership, new investors, & new equity program?

I am just as excited today to announce that I am returning to the PGA TOUR. Being closer to home and spending more time with my family makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me.

I believe in where the PGA TOUR is headed with new leadership, new investors, and an equity program that gives players a meaningful ownership stake. I also understand there are financial penalties associated with this decision, and I accept those.

I read it. The equity numbers and bonus money are max amounts on projections. He will still collect all winnings. He will get equipment deals and endorsements again. He keeps his LIV money. He’s not letting go of much while the PGA can “claim” he’s paying back an arbitrary amount.

Now just need Dechambau, Rahm and maybe a D.J. although he's been bad even on Liv.

They can have the rest.

I don’t think that is it at all. It’s clear the top players run the show. I think they care and don’t want brooks to “come out ahead of them”. They found a way where when it’s all said and done, they come out close to even on money earned and they didn’t “lose to brooks” by his decision to go to LIV

And brooks doesn’t have to really give money back (because the charity money) and come out behind the pga tour top players.

It’s a win win for everyone of the above

DJ is fully washed and doesn't appear to even practice anymore

Neimann and Hatton are the only other guys that would be of interest, but neither are needle movers like Rahm and Bryson

This is specifically designed to try to lure back the two big whales

Has to donate 5 million back to PGA (tour will likely give to charity)

He loses out on roughly 50-85 million equity(he can’t join equity program for 5 years)

All other liv members have until February deadline to get similar type deal

Reported as largest potential financial penalty in sports history (

They had to do this though, otherwise your point about letting him back would have stood. Gotta provide reasons for current players not to take an immediate payday then come back with no penalty.

Also by saying 2022 it excludes Phil by one year…..

Zero opinion below

Besides OJ I don’t know if any pro athlete changed the way their sport will view/treat them like Phil

Phil was on a path to be a masters honorary starter, media darling until his death, etc etc and now he is completely black listed by the game

It’s worse than rose because Pete was always looked at negatively

This is true, but it was also the first season of the league so they can definitely say that's the reason why 2022 was the year included.

He's fine with his Sable Offshore and hating on Gavin Newsome. Who needs to be an honorary starter at Augusta anyways

First, Augusta National doesn't care what anyone thinks. If they want to make him an honorary starter, they will.

Second, that's so far in the future (at least 20 years) that no one knows if anyone will care about all of this at that point.

Phil is 55. All 3 of the current honorary starters will be dead well before 20 years from now (maybe Watson has a shot). Jack and Gary will likely be replaced in 5-8 years.

The "special exemption" only qualifies for Brooks, Rahm, Bryson and Cam Smith. DJ, Hatton, Niemann wouldn't qualify without a 2022-2025 major win.

I think Crenshaw, Faldo, and then maybe Langher or Olazabal get spots before Phil?
