Sure but if the Masters purse dropped, I think players would still want it just as bad.

People don’t want to be a Lee Westwood with 0 majors. And he’s made a shite ton of $

Bingo, plus he just got married, 2 kids, married to the great one’s daughter, zero need for money or status, can play events with zero cuts and get paid a ton.

Exactly. It's a great business decision for him. He will probably be able to play in all the majors still, too.

There were other big names that were going to join too, before all the Phil quotes dropped and it all fell apart. Phil sort of took the fall for those guys. Now that the dust has settled a little, I am not surprised to see a big name or two re-enter the discussion.

He hasn’t exactly been lighting it up on the PGA. If he’s just trying to make bank, yeah it’s a good deal.

It is Talor Gooch.

That surprised the shite out of me. He was really starting to play nicely on tour. A lot of these guys really hold a ton of animosity towards the ruling organizations.

the PGA Tour probably hates seeing on the list the most is not DJ. It is Talor Gooch.

It's still DJ because of the name cache to fans, but I get the point you are trying to make and I don't really disagree.

Word is based on what happens for this event, there's a few guys waiting in the wings to play the second event in Portland, but Gooch and DJ were the only ones willing to jump on the first one

I hope the USGA tells him and the others to get fricked.
Why would or should the USGA care?

Not sure why, but they seem to be thinking about backing the tour

In a statement to Golf Channel, a USGA official said: "We pride ourselves in being the most open championship in the world, with roughly half our field securing their position via local/regional qualifiers, however we reserve the right, as we always have, to review any competitor’s situation on a case-by-case basis."

They surely didn’t just say it’s still open for everyone….

What do you mean? You could try to qualify for the US Open

Did you not read the quote?

They could have easily squashed it by saying “LIV players are allowed to play as we are Open for everyone.” But they didn’t….

I read that as noncommittal as possible. I did gain any insight to whether they'll let these guys play or not.

Thats my entire point…..The USGA is clearly considering not allowing them to play in two weeks

David Winkle, DJ’s agent: “Dustin’s been contemplating this for the past two years & decided it was in his & his family’s best interest to pursue it. He’s never had any issue w/ PGA TOUR & is grateful for all it’s given him but in the end felt this was too compelling to pass up.”

Or are they trying to not say anything at all to just try to stay out of the whole thing until it's further resolved?

There's no way to take any insight from that statement, that's pure conjecture by you.

Their tournament is in two weeks. When asked if they would allow LIV players to play, they didn’t say Yes

You don’t think that makes it clear they are considering not allowing them? It’s clearly on the table. Stop being ridiculous
