You don’t think that makes it clear they are considering not allowing them?
No

It’s clearly on the table.
Is it actually or was that just a noncommittal lawyer speak answer?

Whats the point of them taking a hard line stance today? That could give the appearance that they "back" the Saudis. That's almost certainly not true, but this is PR 101. Don't say anything, in a week there will be something else on the top of the news cycle and the players show up and have to answer the questions, not the USGA.
There's just no reason for them to get involved

The USGA is “taking a stand” one way or another. They are either letting the players play or they aren’t
They aren’t going to get out of not answering that question by just waiting it out
The biggest story in golf is going to be when they either allow the players or don’t. Those headlines and bombardment are already waiting on the USGA to answer I’m surprised Vegas doesn’t have a line on it

Ehh, if you answer the same day as the field list is released you are giving the appearance that you have no problem with LIV. Again, I think that's dumb, but a lot of idiots will try to read into shite that is nothing.

Entirely, I agree, but it's just like anything, the further away we get from the original story the lower the pressure of having to comment.
My personal opinion, they'll be able to play and the USGA will say they were qualified and we aren't the PGA Tour. We'll continue to work along the tour to further advance the game, blah, blah, blah.

They surely didn’t just say it’s still open for everyone….

If I had to bet I think they let the LIV players play, which will ultimately be the sieve moment because the British and masters likely fall in line

DJ is also an interesting case considering he qualifies for the US Open by being a winner within the last 10 years, and Augusta will let him play as a former champion.

I’m thinking they are giving these players a week to change their mind. We won’t hear an official statement of what they will do until they actually tee off.

DJ is the only current star, but they managed to get a few notable and relevant players: Na, Garcia, Gooch, Grace, Oosthuizen, Schwartzel.
This is one of those "all it takes is one" type scenarios, IMO.
First domino has fallen and PGA finna get wrecked if they dont amend their bullshite policies.

It depends a lot of the LIV product. It could completely suck if someone is running away with the tournament, this is a pretty lopsided field. We haven’t even seen the broadcast, rules or how anything is handled. Guys could jump ship from LIV. Think we all need to pump the breaks on who will be the dominant tour.
Or they could both end up being pretty awesome.

USGA also made it a point to highlight their qualifying processes, meaning it's open to anyone who qualifies, so still Open. Invites are case by case. They have themselves room to go in either direction and still claim they are Open.

BS. Woods has played in Dubai with an appearance fee. If he isn’t playing for money, tell him to drop his sponsors and whatever he wins in prize money, donate it to a charity.

Of course they would still play. And collect the winnings.

DJ is getting 125 million.

Again, what policies do you think they need to
Amend? What “bullshite policy” does The PGA have that you find so untenable they need to be wrecked?

‘Player Impact Program’ is bullshite - that’s an easy one.

Tiger received $10m. For doing nothing.
