1. Tommy Fleetwood
2. Seep Straka
3. Justin Rose
4. Shane Lowry
5. Nicolai Hojgaard
6. Ludwig Aberg
Looks like the Euros are playing the long game with Straka, Hojgaard, and Alberg. Realizing that they need to begin a generationa turnover bringing these young guys up to play with Rahm and Hovland.
They join Rahm, Mcilroy, Hovland, Fitzpatrick, Macintyre, and Hatton.

Ludvig and nicolai are good picks. I think this is going to way more competitive then we thought 6 months ago

It’s pretty clear the Euros are better at building a team and keeping the pipeline open to young players. I think that’s where we mess up because we often pick some Good Ole Baw types instead of getting some younger guys experience.

We are going to get beat down like LSU last night.

I’m pretty sure the biggest issue right now is that Europe has so little depth. Aberg is a great driver of the golf ball and I think will be great. Hojgaard and Straka are decent players. But there’s no way those two guys would be picked on the US team. They wouldn’t be picked on Europe’s team if they had higher quality candidates.
And honestly, Shane Lowry has almost been as bad as JT this year.

Europe did the same thing. They took the “boys club Lowry” and left this guy home
Adrian Meronk has been snubbed by Luke Donald of a Captains pick:
— Won Italian Open in May ‘23 at Marco Simone (The Ryder Cup venue)
— Won Australian Open in Dec ‘22
— Won the Irish Open in July ‘22
— Top 25 finish at the ‘23 Open Championship, T17 at Match Play
— 3rd in DPWT rankings behind Rory and Rahm
— 5th on European Ryder Cup points list

The US pick everyone seems mad about is a 30 yr old over a 37 yr old and a 43 yr old

Right. The only young guy we left home is Cam Young. Speaking of young guys and the Ryder Cup. I am listening to the NLU podcast breaking down the last 4 European Ryder Cups. I can't remember which year it was, but they mentioned there was a time where the US had literally no players available under 30 that had won on a Tour event. That is a pretty stark contrast to today.

I guess I need to watch more Euro golf. I have never heard of three of them.

2006, I think it was.
But part of the "problem", so to speak, was that Tiger and to a lesser extent Phil were just that much better than everyone else in that era, and they were hoovering up majors and wins all by themselves.

I agree. It’s going to be ugly.

You could argue though that he is exclusively a DP Work Tour player and the level of competition is not what Lowry is going up against on the PGA Tour. Also Lowry has win a major and has played in the Ryder Cup with success. Comparing this to JT over Keegan is Apples vs Oranges.

Meronk literally won on this course.
I’m fine with the Euros picking Lowry. They think it will give them the best chance to win. They’ve done the same thing with Poulter and Sergio in the past. The US feels the same way with JT.

JT should be nowhere near this team. Other players with just as much experience as him are in better form.

Thomas is 16-5-3 in international play and 6-2-1 in the Ryder Cup specifically. Who else in the U.S. pool has "just as much experience" as that?
