It’s been reported that he likes to play for money. It’s never been reported that he racks up gambling debt a la Charles Barkley. People just want to believe that.
There’s no way he’s pissed away $400M and is somehow in debt to sharks like people would love to believe.

This. And in 2021 Phil made more money on Tour than he’d made in any other year of his career. He won the PGA, and several Champuions Tour events.

KPMG may be the wokest company in the world, but they paid Phil a sponsorship to play on the PGA. Not the SGL or any other tour. Phil basically told the PGA to GFY and openly admitted to trying to undermine the PGA. That’s a damn good reason to drop him.

And what if he was a silent partner/investor in the Saudi league and has a shite ton tied up in this? Wouldn’t that be a plot twist that would give him quite the puckered arse?
A cursory search of the web finds a number of billionaires who lost everything. Not hard to imagine a guy worth $400M making a bad investment or two and being in a bind.

How so? I’m by no means defending KPMG, but if he’s supposed to be playing on the PGA tour and he isn’t, why would they keep paying him?

I got to listen to him(Chamblee) late last night instead of just reading it. Man Chamblee is angry. He was way over the top. I mean, he was more harsh on the apology than he was on the original blunder. This all over a bunch of words. He also felt the need to bring up older shite. Dude really , really dislikes Phil and he let that get the better of him.

Maybe they dislike Phil and it’s finally coming to light.
Or maybe a lot of players resent the fact that he appears to be on a mission to destroy the organization from which they make their
Living and feel a sense of loyalty. He’s the only guy who appears to be hell bent on hurting the PGA. All the more reason I think he has personally invested (his money) into the SGL and that’s contributing to whatever (if any) financial woes he may be facing.
