LIV seems like MLS to me. When the European soccer stars are near retirement they take a big payday to play in the US. While I don’t want the MLS to fail, my attention will always be on the Premiere League. Same with the PGA tour.
Except the reigning Players and Open champ is on LIV.

Yea, it’s not a perfect analogy but in terms of playing against the best, Cameron Smith and others opted for an easier year at LIV. Much like leaving the EPL for MLS.
I’m not criticizing his choice; I may even make the same. But as a fan, the PGA is king and I doubt that ever changes.

LIV leaderboard is garbage

The broadcast is bad
The techno/house music playing on every hole is very annoying

Guess I'm old but the music in the background bugs the shite out of me. And I enjoy music when I'm playing.

I agree music is too much.
I keep watching LIV over the Honda though.

LIV drew a 0.2 in the overnight metered ratings for yesterday. For context another CW program, World’s Funniest Animals, outdrew LIV Golf
“Who cares money!”
“Lol pride”
Ok we got those out the way, now we can discuss the complete lack of any viewership for their opening event of 2023 agaisnt one of the weakest field weekends of the PGA
The honda drew 1.2 for those wondering

Pride. Some other poster made the best analogy I could think of. EPL players come play in the MLS when they know they can’t hang in EPL anymore. LIV is the MLS. While guys like Mito could still play, I don’t blame them for taking. The pay day. I don’t watch MLS. I do watch EPL. MLS isn’t hurting the EPL. Who cares? Let he guys play and let’s all enjoy watching golf.

Not to derail, but this isn’t true anymore in MLS. The average player age is around 26. And MLS rarely takes aging players anymore, unless they are super stars (Zlatan, who actually then went back to Europe and made champions league final).
Mostly MLS is a “selling” league that takes teenagers from south/central/North America and then sells them onto European leagues when they are 21/22

I think EPL fans would be slightly perturbed if some of their actual elite players left to play in the MLS for a cash grab, for viewing purposes they wish they would stay and continue to play against the other elite peers
Doesn’t mean you hate the player for leaving, but as a fan it is no way beneficial for you. We already had over 45 weeks of pro golf. We didn’t actually need more golf. This just gives us the same amount of golf, but diluted

Are they not streaming to YouTube anymore? I don’t get CW. Star power this week favors LIV.

It’s streaming free on The CW app. Accessible on any streaming device.
The CW is also an over the air free channel available in every market. So you should be able to get it on antenna like Fox, cbs, nbc etc.
YouTubeTV has it in some markets, but not Nola.

Download CW app
Free and streaming
I can’t watch the Honda bc of the field. I’d rather watch PGAT when the studs are playing but this wk it’s LIV.

LIV is more like La Liga. Only matters for the majors/ champions league.

Nothing spectacular about the LIV leader board at 4pm Sunday so far with Howell leading.
Honda is playing a far tougher golf course.
Posted on 2/26/23 at 3:58 pm to bopper50
lol. If Charles Howell was leading/dominating at the Honda with DJ, Cam Smith, Casey, Niemann, etc in the field the Golf Network wouldn’t shut up about it.

I guess you could say that.
But LIV has the same field every week. Where is the drama of making the cut and playing great for 4 days ?
It's not like DJ, Casey, Smith, Howell never missed cuts on the Tour.
I don't begrudge anyone for watching LIV. It's all entertainment.
I will give the telecast one thing, they are working overtime to try to show a parting atmosphere.

I came across this article yesterday. Apparently it’s not available in all markets on CW.

Eight CBS-owned CW affiliates, several others will not air LIV Golf

That is technically true. In those markets, it is still available over the air, just on an alternate channel.
This is because Nexstar owns the CW, but they license it to affiliates in some markets and own the local station outright in others.
So for ones in which they license to the affiliate, it’s up to the affiliate if they are going to pick up LIV, as current affiliate agreement only requires they carry CW primetime programming.
So those 8 opted out. But nextstar is showing it on one of their other owned, albeit smaller, stations in those markets over the air
