how much of the north course are they gonna take away to make a pro-level practice area?
They have less than a year now. Time is of the essence and there is more important stuff to be done than a practice area if you want to make city park a pro course

Even pretty avid LIV haters have noted LIV leaning into international play is one good thing it could do in terms of growing golf
So naturally pride comes in hating on it

Pride has literally told them to quit playing events in US, now he complains

I talked to the guy who is contracted to do work at TPC Louisiana. He said the amount of work needed is going to be tough to get completed.

I do think it would be smart of LIV to go fully international
I’m just factually pointing out going Hong Kong to Singapore to South Africa is a brutal 3 week stretch especially leading into the masters

Members probably won’t even be able to play for a few months leading up to the tournament.

Just double the greens fees and that will keep the people who play the north away

Because it will be under construction? I played tpc publicly like 2 weeks before zurich.

The course itself will probably undergo minimal renovations. The problem with bayou oaks is the practice facilities. That needs alot of work to host a pro tournament.

Thats what I was thinking. They dont have enough time to plan and execute any major course changes before year 1 event. They are just going to have to grow out rough big time.
Would think most changes for first year would be range and practice related.

I don't know why they don't go out to Mississippi instead. Go play Fallen Oak or The Preserve. As someone who plays City Park a lot...it kind of sucks. Boring green complexes on flat land with nondescript holes. But at least it'll be hot as hell.

Fallen oak is a fantastic course, but part of the LIV experience is the music and party.
A lot easier to do that in New Orleans than bussing people out to Saucier. There would probably be 100 people total.
ETA: I might go to LIV at Bayou oaks. There’s no shot I’m driving to fallen oak to see it.

I personally think LIV will work well 10 mins from downtown New Orleans.
Seems right up the alley of the style of that tour. LIV does not seem like type of tour that wants to be in the middle of nowhere Mississippi.
Internationals love New Orleans, so it fits on the OP's linked schedule very well. Will it actually draw visitors? I dunno; but I would bet a lot of money a shite muni course in middle of new Orleans will attract more visitors than a nice course in Mississippi.

Good point, it is more of a party than a serious golf tournament. Sums up why I don't watch.

Very random to put that constraint

Pat Perez would frick up Starkvegas. The town would never be the same.

That's what was presented in the post I was replying to.
I would go a step farther and say that it would probably get more attendance at CP than English turn, the only real other viable option in Nola excluding TPC.

I played Fallen Oak twice over the weekend. They have two Turtle Boxes blaring on the range… But it is in the middle of fricking nowhere.
Parking lot should be able to hold a LIV crowd though. 150 spots or so.
