You can say meh all you want, but LIV now has a lot of world class golfers, young guns, and guys who are past their prime but still are popular draws. People seem to not acknowledge that LIV has done this in less(?) than a year. It's only going to get worse. Anti LIV guys will brush off a guy like Niemann who is one of the best young talents on tour and fun to watch and then act like Will Zalatoris is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
You think they are going to create a viable product by ostracizing more than half of golf fans?
Most of the fans that are excited about this are the casual fans unlikely to travel to tournaments and spend big money. At least of people I know.
Do you think they are going to attract a bunch of new fans to watch golf just because it’s 56 holes and some teams now? It’s still watching golf shots over and over. There isn’t going to be some huge untapped market of fans. Golf is a niche sport.

How many people do you realistically know that go to tournaments other than Majors or the one in their market? I'm guessing none

If Greg Norman was not CEO, does he have a place?

Almost certainly, if the model is the same.
You saw them release the Japanese guys this week without a Hideki signing. It's pretty clear they're going to make teams by country/region. I expect you'll see an Australian, South African, and South American/Mexican team.

The Japanese/Asian golf market is way bigger than Australia. Huge failure by Norman and if he’s not the CEO I don’t think it’s a guarantee they focus on Aussies.

I agree

I disagree. Its got maybe the second or third best crop of professional golfers in the world.
US
England and/or Australia
South Korea/South Africa

The PGA looks more top-heavy than ever. They promised more riches to the very rich and Monahan promised a crap load of politics with his PIP for future consideration. Lots of very good golfers are going to be affected by this. And that's in the short and long run.
So what do you prefer
PGA to shrink its premier tournament fields and go to a more top heavy of a model or LIV to have limited field events limited to 48 players?
Meanwhile, PGA is subsidizing Korn Ferry to develop the next crop of golfers. They also support Senior, LPGA and kids programs across the nation.

Exclude Adam Scott and the Aussie field is pretty diluted.
Cam has been great in the two years or so, but is it sustainable? Most of his wins have been based on outlandish putting performances.

Cam Smith - number 2 in the world
Leish - top 50ish player, mainstay for a decade, competes in majors
Jason Day - former world number 1
Min Woo Lee - shooting up the world rankings
Lucas Herbert and Cam Davis - less popular guys, but very good top 50 to 100 players
That lineup could compete with any country in the world outside of America. Australia is a big golfing country too. Not sure what point you're trying to make

Asian tour. That’s the LIV Korn ferry

Completely forgot about Jason Day

I don’t know man. You may be right. I have one very good friend on tour. I follow him weekly. I also follow Korn ferry. I also follow LIV. It anecdotal, but among my group at the club (about 20-30 any given Saturday) the consensus is we just want to watch more golf.

So why is Norman focusing his tournaments in the US and not international and the Australia Japan time zone?

Around half the tournaments are going to be outside of the US. The US is still the largest market. Again, I don't know what point you are trying to make

My man. Everyone here seems to hate you. Why? Are you trolling? I’m new to this board. I saw one dude challenge you to a match. I tried to take that match. I’ll lose, but If he’s paying for pinehurst.

What’s going to happen to all the smaller PGA events, especially those that fund charities and local communities like the Zurich Classic in New Orleans?
I guess it’s cool that the PGA will have competition but LIV and the PGA consolidation of events and golfers are about to crush golf for a lot of people and communities.
This whole situation sucks.
