I remember when they opened the current 6-9. We were on 8 tee box and could see boats passing on the river, the bridge, and TS. It really is a cool place to have a golf course.

When river is high it looks like the boats are floating on top of levee. Makes you think if a terrorist ever blows the levee how much of BR will be underwater

There aren't many holes that require strategy out there, but 6 and 7 are good ones.
Yes, it's possible to drive over the lake on 6 depending on the wind and tees you play. But even then, you're not guaranteed and up and down birdie based on the angle you play your second shot into that green.
Number 7 green complex is well done, IMO. There are so many ways to play your second into that green, and I love the mounding around it.
Number 9 was so much better when the big oak tree was still there on the left.
I have a soft spot for the LSU golf course, because I played so much there as I was learning the game. From the old front 9, to the holes where the new Alex Box is to the current setup. I haven't played in a year and a half due to the conditions. Last time I played it was awful, and it ruins the good memories I have of it.

I played LSU couple of days before Christmas and it was vastly superior than what it was 5 or 8 months ago. Actual grass on the front 9 greens. Didn’t finish back 9 though. If you need a golf fix, its worth getting out there as an easy option.

The stretch from 6 - 9 is actually really good golf. I only lived in BR for 2 years but I really enjoyed going out there and just walking a few holes after work. I put in a lot of practice out there. Nothing like a twilight round with Tiger Stadium in the background or the boats going up and down the river. Hope LSU can figure out that the course is worth having and gets it back in good shape.

7 is a horrible golf hole. When it's dry and hard you can hit the ball right down the middle of the fairway and it'll bounce in the hazard because the fairway is crested on both sides. If they flattened the fairway it'd be fine.

Or it’s the only hole on the course where straight tee shot doesn’t mean it’s playable. That back corner is that courses saving grace.

You should NEVER hit your ball in the fairway and it end up being in the water. Again, if they flattened the fairway, the hole would be fine, it's the fact that it's crested that makes it so bad. You can hit left side fairway and bounce left into the water or hit right side fairway and go in the right side water. That's just dumb.
6 for example you can hit it left and you may be blocked out by trees or not see the hole because of the hill, but there's no penalty stroke. That's fine by me.

I've never hit a ball in either hazard on that hole when I hit a good shot. Once you learn that the best way to play 7 is to take a club that puts you close to the fairway bunker on the left, but not in it, you are golden. That gives you the best angle to that green and with a full short iron or wedge depending on the wind.
Same goes for 6, particularly when it plays into the wind. Hit something that comes up just short of the fairway bunker on the right and you have a great angle in with a short club.
Pretty much every other par 4 and par 5 on that course are just bomb driver holes. 6 and 7 let you play them in a variety of ways.

You do understand that save OB and a hazard, EVERY wayward tee shot is playable at LSU correct?
Plus, you’re making that hole harder than it needs to be. Cut one over the fw bunker and you’ll less than 75 in. The green surround is what makes that hole a challenge.

This. Took me a while to learn that I'm better off hitting a full shot from a better angle than a partial wedge that has to carry that big mound that fronts the entire right side of the green.
Now I want to go play LSU to see if it really has improved.
