Mark O'Meara did something similar to my mom at the Scottish Open. frick that guy.
In a practice round at the 90 PGA, O’Merara and Payne Stewart were playing a practice round with Tommy Armour III and Ian Baker Finch. I followed them most of the round, as Ian and Tommy were super nice, and didn’t mind a bit walking down the ropes talking to people. Both Payne and O’Meara were not very friendly.
Some of that was probably due to Ian and Tommy beating their brains in. I heard at least 3 “press” calls after losing a hole. At one point on the back 9 O’Meara helicoptered one of his irons down the fairway.
I caught Ian after the round coming off the course and asked him how much they took them for. Grinned down at me and said “well mate I flew here from Australia and me trip’s paid for”

Won 2 majors.
Competed in several more at a high level.
The Great White Shark name was a household name.
Not at Golden Bear or Tiger level, but certainly a champion and very well known.
Won twice as many majors as Fred Couples.
How many seconds did “Freddie” have?
If people think of Greg Norman as a choker, what do they think of Freddie?

Someone who was made famous for good looks and a pretty golf swing.

Rooming with Jim Nantz helped his fame as well.
Usually played well at the Masters, but you’d think he was a 5 or 6 time major winner if you listen to the fanboys of Freddie.
Good, but not great career.
Daly won 2 majors.
Freddie’s career in retrospect was one major, about 20 tour wins which is similar to Bubba Watson.

To answer an earlier question. I’ve been lucky enough to golf in Scotland twice. I’ve had 7 different caddies, plus 15 others that carried my partners. On two courses I got to pub some with about 15-20 other caddies, both English and Scots. Two had caddied for Norman.
To a man they did not hesitate in their opinion of Norman. They didn’t like him, respect him or trust him. None of them ever knew a caddie who did.
They respected Tiger, they liked Player and Els, they absolutely loved Tom Watson.
One told a story of caddying for Norman, who’s ball went in a divot, He complained, whined, moaned, cursed his back luck and pouted.
Later, they were paired with Watson. Watson is leading and on about the 16th hole his ball winds up in a divot.
Neither caddy said a thing. Watson pondered his ball a minute or two with no comment. Then he turned to his caddy and a slight smile came over his face and he said “Hand me the six iron….and watch this!”

Greg Norman shot 277 in 1990 and 1992 in New Orleans @ English Turn.
He lost both by a shot. Both were painful to watch. He was runner up in 89 as well.
I liked his wine but have not had any in years. May try some this week.

Probably a good anecdote for why one of them has 8 majors and the other has 2

My dad was best buddies with tway growing up. He still gives him shite for that save when he sees him.
Mr Tway confirmed many times that Norman is a complete a-hole. That generation of golfer seemed to have more that were for whatever reason.
