"We have just concluded a constructive working session at the White House with President Trump and H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
Thanks to the leadership of President Trump, we have initiated a discussion about the reunification of golf. We are committed to moving as quickly as possible and will share additional details as appropriate.
We share a passion for the game and the importance of reunification. Most importantly, we all want the best players in the world playing together more often and are committed to doing all we can to deliver that outcome for our fans."

So basically the same announcement they’ve been making forever. Yawn

Yeah… “we are committed to moving as quickly as possible” seems significant because that includes Yasir/LIV, but I’m not sure that means <2 weeks.

Bob Harig was melting down about this meeting on PGA Tour radio.

We have had a “framework agreement” for 15 months now

I’m not sure why anyone who loves golf would be melting about reunification talks.
I think at this point everyone realizes the current state of golf is poor for everyone.

He was melting that it was at the white house and Trump was involved.

Why would he care about that. One would think that if you want this nonsense to be over with then the POTUS being involved is probably helpful, especially one like Trump who’s very involved with the game

While I agree, one of the major hurdles was the potential blocking of the move by the feds. That barrier doesn't seem like it will be an issue any longer.
The reunification is going to happen one way or another. Just a matter of timing.

He asked why the POTUS was even involved. Was it because he loves the game, or was it because he wanted something out the deal. I am summarizing, of course. He said does Trump want to get back in the good graces with the tour? Is he hoping they will play at his golf courses again? He actually used the term quid pro quo. He wondered if it is even legal for him to use his presidency for personal profit. It was quite strange.

Idk much about Bob Harig, but it’s hilarious that a writer for Sports Illustrated is more focused on politics instead of bringing the best golfers in the world back together

I guess we can assume that he did not vote for Trump if he went down that rabbit hole for no reason

What an update. The same thing they've been saying since Monahan changed tunes.

So this is interesting. Tony finau has signed a “1 day contract” to play in the TGL with LAGC.
Interesting timing given the recent discussions between PGA and LIV.
My suspicion is that 1 day contract has an option to become much longer. I could see Kiz giving up a spot on Tiger’s team to say Bryson or someone as well.

idk, the press release said it's because both Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood are unavailable, so they needed someone to fill in

Tony Finau has signed a one-day contract to compete for the TGL’s Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) on Monday, Feb. 24 against the New York Golf Club.
LAGC’s Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood both have pre-existing commitments and are unavailable for Monday’s match, the league announced in a press release.
It’s the first time in the fledgling golf league’s history that a player not formally on one of the four-man rosters will compete. TGL’s rules outline that if a “starting” player cannot compete, teams are allowed to sign a new player to take their place for a match. To be eligible for TGL, players must be PGA TOUR members in good standing.
“We were aware that Justin and Tommy would take this week abroad to spend time with family, which created a unique opportunity for us to have Tony join LAGC for this match,” Neal Hubman, co-founder and president of LAGC, said in a statement.

Get that guy out of there and something will actually get done. What a clown.

I thought Jay was on his way out. I guess he’s decided he should be the one to “fix” it now & he’ll probably take home another $20M before he leaves.
