You should see what the courses in the Augusta area charge during Masters week.

Ain't all that different.

I’m planning a trip to Rochester for the PGA with a local. He didn’t mention anything about astronomical green fees I should probably double check

I worked at Oak Harbor in Slidell when the Super Bowl came to town in 2002. We were charging over $200 a round that week. It was normally $49. It’s just what happens.

You should try finding a course to host a charity tournament on a Friday, it’s almost impossible. We hosted one for years at Bayou Oaks and they’d charge us $65 as long as we had a minimum 120 golfers. Post Covid and new pro, they went from $65 to $120! The courses have lost their mind. Will be interesting to see if it ever corrects

I’m the DOG at a club in Arizona…cost goes up and price goes up. Costs more to pay labor, costs more for fert and chem. Costs more for equipment. Also factor in that membership surged for 2 years and all of a sudden your available inventory for tee times to public is limited… we have moved our rates from $220 to $300 in about 2 years we are in Tucson and out SB rates are $375

Great thing about retirement is that we play during the week only.

I did the Country Club thing for 15 years.

Now we use GolfNow or just ask for senior rates and hardly ever pay over 50 bucks a round.

My biggest gripe lies with the service. Courses are missing the boat by not pushing their food & beverages and cart girls are rarely seen during the week.

Covid taught me to never rake a bunker again. 2 years with no rakes and the golf world didn’t collapse.

Never again.

most courses are charging $14-$16 for a bucket of balls

For several years it was always between $7-$10.

Too many people in this thread think this is about them. Why would courses lower their price when they have packed tee sheets?

Hypothetical example: you have 100 players play a day for $100 or 50 play for $200. Which one do you think is better for the course? The 50 creates significantly less maintenance. But even better, they aren’t worrying about that because they are getting 90 at $200.

With regards to the cart girl midweek…. I presume you play midweek to avoid the crowds. Why would you be surprised that a volume dependent component is not as readily available?

I get that rate increases suck, but these are for profit industries. If you don’t want to support it, don’t play.

my point is really that these courses just are not supplying anywhere close to the value anymore.

play or don't. Its not obligatory. But bitching about it isn't going to change anything. Be glad they're making nice profits. Better than closing courses to turn them into residential neighborhoods.

Golf courses are not well known for making money the last few decades. I would say since the huge course build boom in early 2000s.

They probably are finally operating like a normal business and charging appropriately. That is a good thing for golfers. We need golf courses to make sense financially.

What you see is courses who have to get super cheap people out there to play, then those customers don’t spend a lot on food and beverages. Usually sneak their own stuff in. But those customers desire the highest level of customer service, for some reason.

Hey we demanded cheap golf through golf now and senior discounts but why is there service so bad out here!?!

You sir are part of the problem...It doesn't cost a thing to rake YOUR FOOTPRINTS AND DIVOT! Evidently you don't play the ball down as intended either.

Ojersy....so you live in Paradise ...AZ...well there is a price to live in Paradise...high priced golf, high priced housing and average food...move to Cajun Country and I'll introduce you to a nice place that you can play unliminted golf with a cart for under $ 300/month. I'll admit its not Troon North , TPC Scottsdale, Grayhawk, Sunridge or any of the many available daily fee courses...but for 300 its hard to beat anywhere in US...we can play 200-225 days a year in various weather conditions and well food ..we do have good food...let this sink in...the price for a 4some at Sage Valley which opens up to corporate golf the week of the Masters is $6000/4some...with that you get breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner..complete with alcohol ...this samething happens the week of the Superbowl every 4-5 yrs that Paradise hosts the Superbowl...
