Why do I get the sense they're making a spectacle out of him? Holding up a blown up mug shot of just him and none of the other 119 people arrested? "Look who we caught! He won't be making his tee time." A bit of grandstanding isn't it?

Extreme bit of grandstanding. The podium even has the sheriffs name on the front of it, not the city or parish / county. Must be coming up for election soon.

The SECOND I read the first 2 sentences I said to myself, “HAS to be Lakeland.”
Clicked the link and, of course.
Grady doesn’t frick around. And he holds up mug shots any time he’s trying to get publicity or make a point or needs attention.
ETA: Couple fun facts. I refused to blow after being pulled over for tint(I had 3 beers and a shot and knew I’d blow just over .08 at that point) and spent the night with about 20 guys freshly caught in Grady Judd’s sex sting. They were NOT happy. Most of them were in suits. Completely normal guys. It’s a weird feeling when you’re out to eat the next day and the story is being shown on Bay News 9 and you’ve had heart to hearts with all the guys they’re scrolling across the screen.
The 2nd fun fact was going to be a picture of a friend of mine who is serving a ~15 year sentence for murder. He sold a guy drugs. That guy left my friend’s place. Waiting for the guy was a sting operation thing and he, naturally, opened fire on the police. The police killed him and charged and convicted my friend(who was completely unaware of the entire situation) with murder. Again, do NOT mess up in Polk County.
Now to defend myself after the two trashiest posts of my TD life
This friend and I grew apart years before this happened. I’m not defending him. He was a deadbeat when this happened. And in Florida if you fail a breathalyzer you can’t fight it in court. So everyone knows not to EVER do the tests. If you have 2 and a half beers at chili’s and get pulled over in Polk County, FL, just ask them to take you in and live to fight another day. Which is what I did and it was dropped 3 days later.
