This tour championship format with strokes sucks
The tour championship is a tournament, and it should be played as such
The fed ex cup is an entirely different entity and should be decided separately

Final tournament should be match play.

When did the format change to the format currently being used?

2019, I believe. The year after Tiger won the tournament but Rose won the Fedex Cup

My thoughts,

Not a fan of the strokes given, but every player has the same opportunity to be seeded number one at the start of the season.

Would love a match play format.

Plenty of incentive to win this event even if not the eventual FedEx champ.

I like the Tour Championship better when they rotated courses.

Still getting to see the best players in the game play this weekend.

Literally impossible. "plenty of incentive to win the Super Bowl even if not the eventual Super Bowl champion"

And if you are talking about shooting the best gross score, there's literally no incentive other than it impacting your net score.

The fact that the above sentence is even a thing is absurd

Bryson and DJ not there. Talor Gooch played half a season and had more points than Aaron Wise and he's not there

They made their bed and now they can sleep in it.

Plenty of incentive to play for in the bonus pool.

It is too many strokes separating.

90% of the field tees off with no chance

It should be like 3 groups of 10 each group 2 shots apart.

Cam shot 67 at East Lake. a good score and is out of the tournament after round 1 being 8 strokes back.

He was in the top 10 going into the week.

He lost 2 stokes to SS on the course but “started” six behind.

Match play would be great but I am sure the TV says now way. No one is going to watch anyways over the weekend unless it is close.

There’s obviously problems with the event, but he didn’t play last week. So, as a rebuttal to “starting behind”, if anything, he wouldn’t be there this week. They specifically changed the format to prevent the years where Tiger and Vijay skipped events and still won

He won an event in 2021. Who cares? He shouldn’t, that’s what the money is for.

I’m sure the tv audience is really concerned that Gooch isn’t in the field.

He was still in the Top 10 and the second best player this season.

Xander is the same way. Lost 1 stroke on the course but started 4 back. Only other guy with a chance to win this weekend.

Tourney will be over by about the time Scheffler hits the back 9 tomorrow. Guy deserves to win but for it to be your playoff finale might help to add some drama so people have a reason to watch.

This is the age old question of how much weight is put on the “regular”season. I think the PGA has done a poor job of balancing the two. Maybe they should do like the US Am and have a stroke play portion to qualify for a small match play portion. Granted a much smaller scale. They could stagger the stroke play if they wanted, but then play for 4 match play spots on Saturday and Sunday. I don’t know, but this isn’t that exciting in its current form.

Way too much hand wringing over this format and tournament.

Scotty could shoot a 75 tomorrow and everyone is back in it.

It's hardly a bellwether for who the best player, I mean Hunter Mahan won it one year.

I enjoy watching good golf shots, no what a player earns.

So play the entire season stroke play but for the biggest payout let’s change to match play. Doubt will happen.

The problem with match play is you have 15 matches in the first round with 15 winners advancing to the 2nd round. With 15 being an odd number how many matches are there in the 2nd round?

They could expand the finals to 32. Problem solved

You would think the Commissioner would be smart enough to figure that out. But then again . . .

When they were discussing ideas to change, match play was discussed. The players didn’t want it.

If the players rule the tour, which appears to be chase, why do they have a Commissioner they are paying a sh*tload of money?
