According to this thread, the greens were messed up by some weed killer:

They are really messed up. Apparently, they received the funds to fix them up. I’m not sure of the timeline.

rounds are discounted to $45

5-6 temporary greens that are much shorter than original greens. The other greens were similar condition to last year.

It's a work in progress. Several temp greens, and funding approved. But it's moving slow and will take some time for them to get it right. Outside of them temp greens the other greens look to be improving and the rest of the course outside of the bunkers is pretty solid.

English turn greens weren't in great shape either. Playable but not great. Rest of course looked good

I have heard that they are losing their greens as well. Crazy.

I've played Audubon several times recently. It is in my neighborhood, so regardless of the conditions, I'm playing it since it is five minutes away. There are now numerous temporary greens -- seven if I recall correctly. From a layman's point of view, it is hard for me to see how it would not take several months to remediate the greens. Additionally, the bunkers are in horrible shape. Most are full of standing water. I wish I had better news to report.

Played there on Friday (7/5)

12 temporary "greens"

The pro shop told me they should be back to the normal greens 9/1. They looks playable now.

Also fwiw, I shot one of the best rounds of my life

How is that course in general?

Not bad for a (relatively) cheap round. I'm also not very good so I'm just happy to be out on any course.

Outside of the temp greens, my biggest gripe with Audubon is that is holds water all over the place.

Many of the bunkers have water, some are basically greenside koi ponds. The low lying areas in fairways get very damp/muddy then don't get cut so you get some thick grass/bog mix (#7,8,11 come to mind).

I was at the park today with the pup and the greens are looking good. Infinitely better than when i was there last. Shot a text to the pro to see how it was on their end, and he said they are shooting for 9/1 to be all the way back with another round of deep aerification in August.

Going to try to get out there tomorrow to play and really see.

Man that’s crazy.

I worked here for two summers while I was at LSU right after they refurbished it (2002-2003) The place was immaculate when I was there.

The superintendent they had was awesome, was a Mississippi State baw.

Stan Stopa was the club pro, he played in the Masters after winning the US pub links one year.

The place was beautiful and a gem in the heart of uptown, and got a ton of play.

They ran it like a machine, greens were in amazing shape and fast. Clubhouse was great with good food.
Everybody that worked there really cared, especially the superintendent. He worked his arse off out there.

Really hope it comes around to what it is supposed to be.

I played the course again yesterday. Some of the temporary greens are now gone. If I recall correctly, there are now five. The bunkers are still completely flooded, but that is likely a permanent condition (penalty-free water hazards?). They have let the non-fairway areas grow into true rough. Avoid it! The real hazard at Audubon now is a lost ball in that stuff. I hit numerous inbound shots that just went into a black hole somewhere on the edge of the fairway. The construction on the sim room is nearly complete.

Really was. That stretch from 10-14 made you feel like you weren't even in the city.

There’s nothing I enjoyed more than waking up on a Saturday morning and playing Audubon with a couple drinks and then spending the day bar hopping on magazine.

The course pre covid, was so much fun. Really rooting for it to return to that condition.

I played Audubon on Friday. All greens are repaired and in good shape. The same can be said of the rest of the course too. The bunkers are still the weak spot, but are in better condition than before. No standing water, and playable even though many are more like hardpan or loose dirt than sand.
