I get all of this but he’s not in contention. And you’re discounting the number of people including greens keepers, scorers, officials, etc who are going to have to return for Matt Kuchar to play a half a hole for nothing.
It’s extremely selfish if nothing else.

Not to defend the guy too much, or at all really because he’s a well known prick, but I did see it is worth about $100k if he somehow makes a birdie.
Guess he needs it since has no shot at making the playoffs and can’t egregiously skimp his caddies anymore.

I’ve always hated the Kuuuuch thing the fans do. What sheep.
Not that it matters but I did read that he is staying with good friends about as close to the course as you can get without being on property and was going to stay anyway. But I hate it for the support personnel

I think he stands to make 100k if he birdies and moves up a spot, but loses 59k if he makes bogey and drops back.

I went to watch Kuchar play at CCL when he played for GA tech.
He was 22 and I was 14 or 15 and was the only spectator on the course.
He was not friendly. At all.
I do remember Steve Scott from Florida was super friendly. Same dude Tiger beat in the finals of the US Am.
