Posted this on the OT but it is probably better on this board.

Have had some painful bursitis in my hip all week. Icing helps. Doc gave me some Meloxicam 15mg. I have a golf tournament tomorrow and Sunday.

I know studies have shown dosages above 23mg can cause problems but I dunno if that is extended use .

Anybody ever doubled up for a single day on anti-inflammatory ? Any problem?

Be careful, it will mess with your BUN and/or creatinine. I lost my life insurance because creatinine levels rose from taking Mobic(meloxicam). Insurer called and told me I could not be renewed because my "kidneys were failing". Took me 3 months to finally find out it was the Meloxicam. To this day that info remains and for me to get life insurance the cost is outrageous.

I’ll post my reply from your first post again.

15mg once daily for 14 days will do the trick.

If you’re having trochanteric bursitis then you should have gotten a steroid shot right in the bursa.

Depending on your body habitus, voltaren gel may not get to the trochanteric bursa.

The issue would be risk of GI ulcers and decrease kidney functions but for a single day, you should be fine. Still not recommended.
