Now I’m middle age and produce too much creatine naturally when I work out to the point it’s messing with my kidneys.

Creatinine on your labs is not the same as creatine

Creatinine is waste product in urine that is used as a correlation for possible kidney issues but is not an issue by itself.

Cystatin C lab is a better test especially if you have higher than normal muscle mass and/ or supplement with creatine

Jeez. They’re going to need to increase the concentration of this stuff.

That is interesting that you say that because my FIL has late stage Parkinson’s and my MIL scours the internet for things to help him and one of the studies she read is there is new evidence that 10g of creatine a day is showing positive cognitive results for this disease and overall brain health in general. Of course she asked me if I used it and I said pretty much since I was in my 20’s and I am 52 now. However my daily dose has always been 5g with a loading phase after I cycle off, usually in the Summer. Now I understand that loading is not necessary and I have been at 10g per day since August. No issues at all for me.

yea lots of positive results coming out on creatine and mental side of things and parkinsons. I would have him start at 5g and slowly add 5g every couple months so long as his stomach handles it and he is not getting any negative side effects

but monitor kidneys as Im not sure how that would effect them in someone with Park. talk to doctor too and be honest.

for those looking for the creapure brand.....Truenutrition has it and its 3rd party tested.

Does the brand really matter? Do different forms matter (pill, gummy, powder etc..)

You want one that uses German creapure. True nutrition has it and others

Form doesn’t matter but if doing 5-15g easier to use powder

Today was my first day of bumping up to 10g/day. Will ride that from here on out. Seems like more studies are showing 10-15g for grown men.

FYI Costco had optimum brand for $14. 135 servings per container (at 5gm). Great price. Since my wife started taking it, it’s going quick.

Have you noticed any differences going to 10g a day? I’m about to start creatine back up with Beta Alanine. Historically I’ve done 5g.
