There are some good sources for homemade probiotic yogurt out there…thinking I’ll follow one of those recipes and just add the bugs rather than what is suggested. A lot of the issues people had from the other threads seem to be from cooking too long. Appears that you can kill the bugs if they run out of sugar prior to stopping. 24 hrs is the longest I’ve read anyone doing it.

Still gathering info at this stage.

I opened it one time before 36 hours and it was still really watery plus I’m not sure if letting air in messes it up or not

Last time I tried this, I lost 17 lbs the hard way with a month of the shits.

My allergies went away like a year ago I think it’s the gurt that did it

Or it might have been from losing weight

All of the yogurt recipes online only cook it for 12 yours or so. Will 24 or 36 result be too much? I’m not looking for a recipe for self administered explosive diarrhea.

I do it for 40 hours and don't have any issues

I'm with you. I eat Greek yogurt once or twice a day. How does the gurt compare to something like that.

Making homemade yogurt from a particular bacteria strain that may be beneficial for health outcomes

Are there no readily available options in grocery stores that have similar outcomes?

No baw

The gurt is made of a specifically patented strain of lactobacillus that’s really rare in your gut. It was originally isolated to treat gi stuff but it’s basically the fountain of youth and health

And I usually make a gallon at a time with 2 quarts heavy cream and 2 quarts half and half

For your first batch put 10 of the pills in and a few spoonfuls of inulin in your pot and stir and let it sit for 36 hours

The first batch will be kinda runny but just eat it and save like a couple cups of it to start the next batch and put 5 pills in going forward. I’ve found you don’t have to crush up the pills

Can you expand on this? How much does it make and long does it last? I've only ever had store-bought yogurt, but Im willing to try this. I typically eat about 1/2C greek yogurt for breakfast and sometimes another late afternoon.

It makes however much liquid you put into yogurt

Like a gallon of cow juice will make a gallon of yogurt

For the Gurt Mega thread it sure isn't getting a lot of attention. Does anyone have a legit recipe?

That’s a legit recipe I posted. I don’t know how to make less than a gallon

I can cut the recipe down to fit my pot. The question I have is my pot has a yogurt setting but the cook time is a lot less than 32 hours. Is your cook time based on amount?
