Neighbor has a LG,paid $3600 before taxes.Breaks frequently.

Couple weeks ago it quit, repairman didn’t come for 3 days but it started working again the AM before he got there.
Did some diagnostics and said the motherboard is bad so going to replace that.

Why in hell do refrigerators these days need computers, motherboards and all that crap.

Our LG came with the house, so it's made it 11 years - but it's dying, pretty sure. Guy coming to look on Monday, I have done all I know to do. Checking out some of the nicer Whirlpool ones, need to look Frigidaire. The big stores only want to sell Samsung and LG, that's not happening.

I have a 35 year old Frigidaire refrigerator that is still going strong. We bought it new in 1988. It became our garage fridge in our new house in 1998. It has never needed any professional maintenance.

Back in the 90s I used to work in appliance parts and repair and Frigidaire were considered trash. Having said that I had bought a used 18' back in '99, and through numerous moves and constant use, it's still going strong(knock on wood). Frigidaire is an old American company, glad to see they are making good stuff.

This question is a bit off topic, or topic adjacent maybe, but I definitely didn't want to clutter the board by starting a new thread so I'll hijack this one.

When we bought our house it had a Bosch dishwasher and it didn't dry for shite. I assume it'd been there since the house was built in the late 90s so we just said eh frick it we'll buy a new one. So we bought a brand new Maytag dishwasher that Lowes came out and installed. The guy even said that Bosch is trash for dishwashers. So we used the new one for the first time earlier this week and same thing happened. It'll run a full cycle that lasts like 2 hours and when you open it up everything is soaked. Could there be some kind of issue with our wiring or something? Or is Maytag an equally bad brand? Could my wife have put it on some different kind of setting that didn't dry? I just can't imagine that a brand spanking new dishwasher straight from the store wouldn't do half of what it's supposed to do, which makes me think maybe something else is going on.

damn that's disappointing to hear. What do you do about it? With our old one, once it beeped saying it as done we'd just open the DW door and leave it open all night to let it air dry like that and the next morning all was fine. I was just hoping to avoid hving to keep doing that

Dishwasher dryers pretty much were eliminated by federal energy efficiency standards.

None of them are worth a shite anymore. If possible, you can turn on the “extended dry” option and that seems to help a little bit.
