i dont think i'm going to use the trim kit that came with the fridge/freezer...i just read the instructions and thats above my pay grade and willingness to exert myself.
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude

its so easy!

you literally just put a carpet/blanket/comforter or something on the floor and gently lower the fridge onto its back then attach the bracket and screw in like 5 screws. i'm no he-man and i did it by myself but i did have my wife help me raise it back up when i was done; i was afraid it was going to slip on the blanket.

repeat process for freezer.

take adhesive off heating pad and slap that bad boy on the side of the fridge.

then all you do is attach a little 'bridge bracket that locks them together and the trim piece at the top.

the one in the middle and sides are held in place by magnets so you dont even have to do anything there except snap them in place.

plug it in and roll it backwards.

seriously you can do it. re-read the instructions a couple of times and you'll realize its a cinch.

eta i didnt want the mexicans who lets say werent the most careful around my stuff TOUCHING that fridge.

i pulled all the shrink wrap off ever so slowly (probably took 2 hours) and then connected them altogether and then i knew it was done correctly.

i have a mountain of styrofoam, cardboard, bubble wrap, pallets, and QC film out in my driveway
yup

eta2 that range is SICK!!

I took the task of unboxing the fridge. Holy cow. It was like the person packing it was paid by the number of places they could find to put that blue tape. I had to chuckle at the absurdity of it all.

you have no idea until you purchase a 'side by side' like cgrand and i. i could have built a house out of blue tape and Styrofoam when i was done.

I can’t…there’s not enough room to do that. The box is on my floor I’m gonna open it and see it I can just use the middle and top pieces.

you could probably get away with just leaning it back slightly and putting a 4x4 or something under it.

you only need access to the front wheels/bracket so kinda like changing a tire, if you have the weight off it, its very easy to screw in the bracket/swap out whats there.

but i get it; with tight space like that its going to be tricky.

why do I need to install the underside piece at all though? What does it do that I need? I have the two units pushed into place and leveled already

it mates the 2 units to act as one.

the louvre at the top and trim piece at the bottom are thin metal so unless you want to unscrew the trim piece at the top and take the bottom trim off each time you pull the fridge in and out, you are going to risk bending the metal.

the heavy metal bracket at the bottom and top 'lock' the 2 units together so you can easily slide them in and out along w/ all the attached trim

eta it also insures that little 'T' that snaps in between the 2 units is seated properly and you don't see a gap between either unit.

let me take a pic.

it’s porcelain LOL. Dekton is the product name
we are getting ready to redo our kitchen and are about to select our countertops. We were thinking quartz. We hadn’t considered porcelain- tell me why you went with that?

Love to have something like that, house came with a new but still POS GE gas slide-in and the plain round burners are miserable for anything but my largest pots and pans. The simmer burner is ok but miss my old Dacor. My fiancee wants to convert to a sealed radiant setup, too bad for her there is no 240V circuit available for that nonsense

went with porcelain because it comes in a variety of colors and finishes, it’s super durable and scratch resistant, no maintenance and I didn’t like the look of granite or quartz. Plus it was cheaper even than quartzite. Finally, what I really wanted was concrete, and this gives the look and feel of that without the hassle and expense.

I put quartzite in the prep room because the materials were free (they were leftover from a job at the superdome) and I like the white in there but I’ve already scratched it LOL

I was pleasantly surprised at the price of the blue star 36”…it was less than my budget, and there’s nothing on it that can break. Just knobs, ingniters and cast iron. Nothing digital and no circuit boards or any of that shite. The open burners are the way to go

Could be the countertop of choice in coming years. Seems like every other countertop material has some sort of negative. Though if too many people use it, it will become faux pas by the HGTV crowd because its not exclusive enough. Though I'm not sure if something like an undermount sink can be done.

I saw on the internet the other day where there are now making specialized porcelain 2x2' decking tiles. They attach to an aluminum grid system that attaches to regular deck framing.
