Looking for recommendations for national moving companies. Relocating for work in the coming weeks and will need to hire someone to move us several hours away.

Go with the big name movers.
I made the mistake of picking a low cost option when i moved cross country a couple years ago. DO NOT DO THIS.
Any deposit you make will not go to the actual people doing the moving. There is a reason they only accept a bank transfer or cashier's check for the deposit. It is fraud. The people that show up to do the move will hit you up for another 5-15 grand before they start loading your stuff.
This is what happened to me, and it is a common story.
I made the mistake of letting my wife organize our move and it ended up costing us big. I should have just made multiple trips renting a u-haul. Would have saved us about $15 grand.
My father in law moved with us, but paid one of those "We will store your stuff for free for a few months while you move" movers. He never saw most of his stuff again. What did get delivered was some of his stuff (damaged), and other people's belongings.
DO NOT hire a mover that moves your stuff together with other peoples belongings.
Even if you get a legit mover, these types of moves are so expensive.
My advice is sell everything you can (furniture, anything bulky) and move only those things that are dear to you. Rent a u-haul and move what you really want to move yourself. Buy new at your new place. It will typically end up being cheaper.
