New water supply to vacant campsite

I have a rural campsite that’s about 500 feet from county water. Any cautions, stories, recommendations for running the water line from the meter to the site?
Preliminary thoughts, before gathering too much info, are to trench down the middle of my gravel driveway for 1.5” line. This will leave shoulders available for future power line.

Your plan sounds like a good one. Use some coiled pipe that is made for water (not PVC and not plastic gas pipe).
Bury a copper tracer wire with the pipe so you can locate it in the future. Be sure to call 811 for utility locates a few days in advance.

Call me overly cautious, but if it were my water line, I'd likely go off to one side or the other of the gravel driveway.
If any repairs or additional water lines need to tap off it for any reason in the future, you will not be needing to dig up part of the driveway to do the work.
I would think a ditch witch would also have an easier time just cutting a trench in the dirt than cutting a trench in a gravel driveway to bury the pipe.

This part was not something I’d considered given the size I need, but it’s the kinda thing I wanted feedback on. Not sure I’ll have equipment to manage a heavy roll.

I think he’s thinking of that 1 1/2” black roll PE pipe that you fuse together. I’d get a plumbing company to take it from the meter to your campsite. They can convert to copper from the PE where you want it to terminate out of the ground at your site.
They do make 1 1/2 pressure C-900 pipe with hub and gasket that you can push together with soap with a shovel. City municipals use this pipe and it’s much stronger than PVC.
Don’t put it in the driveway. I’d pick one shoulder for power and the other for water if it were me.

Don't think it would be all that hard to find if he goes down the center, or off to one side of the driveway when laying that water line.

Rent ditch witch. Get 500’ of 2” pvc. Glue together. Cover trench. Middle of the road is probably more ideal than in the ditch.

You should be able to get that in 250’ rolls, and at the size you are talking about, you’ll be able to handle it by hand.

Turk, this is just my opinion but I would not put water line in middle of driveway just due to weight always passing on or near line. Also where you trench it’ll be soft due to ground not being virgin anymore. If you ever have problems you are digging up your driveway and will make a soft spot at that time.
Absolutely put a tracer wire with it to locate in the future. Can probably get where you get your pipe from. It will help with future locates.
Pretty sure you can get 1.5” hdpe pipe in a 500’ roll so no fusing except your transitions to go from hdpe to a threaded male at meter and threaded male at house/camp.
