Can anyone recommend some solar spotlights to put shining up under my live oaks?

Lowe's has some decent ones.
I don't know the brightness of ours but lights up our flag mounted to an oak. The oak branches and leaves look pretty sweet, too. Warm white light not that office looking fluorescent bright cool white.

No one makes a good one, and when you put them under trees, they are even worse

I got whatever the standard brand from HD is. Does not work well or for long.

If its worth lighting its worth spending the time and money to run even cheap wired lights.

It’s about a hundred yards from the closest power.

Get yourself a 500 foot spool of 10/2 and a multi tap transformer and let us know how it goes

Solar spotlights don’t work well or very long and I’ve never spoken with anyone who were happy with them once installed.

Do what you want with that information and I wish you well with your project.

Do NOT cheap out and buy the walmart brand ones (water is wet right). I bought a couple on a whim recently for lighting up an oak and they weren't worth a crap.

Or just bury a cheap outdoor extension cord like I did. Ha!

I ordered my first set of these in 2019 and they are still going strong. Ordered at least 5 more sets since them. They work great and I've never had a problem. 10/10, highly recommend.

I have the same issue (far from power) and I just ordered some from Amazon that will be here Tuesday. I'll report back after I install them.

Are there any that have the light separate from the solar cell and battery, just connected by wire?

That would work better than what I’ve seen, used, the one piece ones that are hard to get the solar cell in good position and don’t last long anyway. It shouldn’t be so hard to make a better product in this regard but it appears to be.

I think the problem with this design is that these lights are very low voltage (3v maybe?) so any length of wire panel->battery->led probably just won't work due to voltage drop. It can be made to work, of course, but we're adding circuitry and size and complexity and cost in doing so, and I'm not sure if there's much room in the market for such a product given that if you're already paying more money and running wire why don't you just use real wired lights and get something 10x better?

For a truly remote tree that I just had to light up, I would probably get one of those solar generators with battery and solar capacity sized for the wattage of lights I want, and use it to run a regular landscape lighting transformer with regular landscape lights. I'm not aware of any weatherproof units, so I would probably incorporate it into the design of the gazebo I would build so that I could hang out near the tree and enjoy the lighting.
