Not sure either of you have experience with modern 56 or 60 volt trimmers. I use Ego's smallest pack and one charge trims 2 lots totaling 1.3 acres with juice to spare. I trim around two houses and fully fenced yards as well as around 7 big oaks, 2 magnolias, and a few dozen smaller trees. I'm not cutting through a rainforest but I do take out saplings and edge ruts along concrete. It has as much power as the Husqvarna it replaced.

Don't judge based on some little 20 volt toy. That's like a riding mower with a weed eater motor.

If it starts and runs after replacing all that it's most probably a carb adjustment (like others have said).

I purchased a set of tools off Amazon just for that purpose as chainsaws and weedeaters sometimes require very odd shaped carb adjusting tools.

$10.00

Good luck

Stop trying to convince us to use what you do. An electric mower or trimmer will not do what I need it to. As soon as I start seeing battery equipment on the commercial guys' trailers I'll pay attention.

I paid less than $20 for the replacement parts.

For the aftermarket carb that doesn't work?

The problem is it's a small engine.

I understand completely. I am the same way with electronics. But from experience I can tell you that if this

The motivation is both, really. I want to find the low cost solution, and I want to learn how to do things on my own. I’ve already learned how to replace a carburetor and fuel lines. Might as well see if I can figure out why it won’t start.

Can't speak to a mower just yet but unless you've used an Ego trimmer then you are talking out of your arse. Judging by how I use mine vs everyone else's lawns that I see, an Ego trimmer is more than sufficient for more than 99% of people. Maybe you are a one percenter?

The math is different for them but I'm sure you can find some anyway if you looked.

I’m sure your husband is appreciative of the ownership you take in caring for his lawn. It’s really admirable.

There it is.

If you need to care for a tiny engine and keep it happy in order to feel like a man, you do you. I'm good with just getting the yard work done.

Take the spark arrestor off.

It will stark right up.

You're welcome.

Time and a place for this discussion. OP just needs help with their gas trimmer.

Eventually when it finally becomes more trouble than it’s worth, a 2.5 ah string trimmer will do any job just fine.

I'll give it a rest for now even though I think it's the perfect time and place. If I ask for help with something and you have a suggestion which not only "solves" my problem but does so in a way that will save me time for years to come, I hope you will share it. And if I shun your advice I hope you will be adamant about it and bash me over the head with the obvious superiority of your solution.

Are you into YouTube? Have you tried researching the problem there? The following yielded plenty results when entered into the Y.T. search bar:

That's the problem. Had a Husqvarna trimmer and blower and both crapped out due to developing problem with crankcase seals. You can pressure/vacuum test the thing but better to toss in trash and go get an Echo, Stihl, Shindaiwa, or Maruyama.

Pretty much where I stand. I have a pretty sizable yard with a lot of growth I need to clear out. I can’t play around with an electric weed eater that can’t handle at least some moderate work.

I routinely weedeat, trim around a 5 acre place. Me EGO trimmer and edger last just fine.

Also, I second the poster who commented about his EGO chain saw. Use mine when needed. No fuss, no muss. It just works.

Ya'll need to calm down.

I have a Husqvarna trimmer as well, like the OP, that was giving me trouble after maintenance, so I went to Lowes and got the best EGO trimmer they had, hoping it would be the answer to my problems. It isn't.

I like the idea of a battery powered trimmer. But my lot is roughly 0.6 acres and I have a LOT of weedeating to do. Front sidewalk, driveway, around the house, inside and outside of courtyard wall, pool, lake frontage, outdoor kitchen, sidewalks in backyard, etc. Takes me about 30-50 minutes each time. If I run the EGO on high speed, it dies before I'm finished with the 4 Ah battery.

The carbon fiber shaft has broken. It broke no more than 3 months after I bought it when it slid from its resting place in my storage and dropped to the floor.

The self-winding head is a piece of shite, as well. Not only is it a pain to use, it's not a year old and it's falling apart.

Then you're a true dumbass.

Only advice I have is to call EGO and tell them what's going on. In my experience if you're polite the reps will take care of you with no hassles. The string trimmers have a 5 year warranty on the tool itself.

I hadn't registered shite and they were still ready to send me a brand new battery for free. Just took my word over the phone as to when I bought the products.

Might be a cheap/free way to get an upgrade to a new model.
