Damn, it looks like LA will have a very strong group in 2011, maybe even better than last year.
Even though he was a little kid when Frank Wilson was at O.P. Walker, I am sure that he has a lot of influence among kids from that school.

it's relationships with orgeron and wilson that locked him up early to knoxville.
let's face it...we all know that TN put together a dynamic recruiting staff, tuned in to hitting the biggest talent producing areas in the south.

quote:maybe not laziness, but this staff definitely can't rest on its laurels for a second. shea mentioned last week that TN and Bama had been in contact with AJ the most before today.
I just don't when it would be considered lazy by a staff for not extending an offer for a 2011 kid in April of 2009. I realize other schools have done so and we do the same later in the year with OOS prospects. I do agree that our system should be re-evaluated and our recruiting is somewhat stagnant right now, which isn't good for the perception when trying to recruit these kids. Especially when the fanbase starts getting overly negative.
This does suck, but not sure it's a case of laziness.

it might have happened either way but letting Bama and Tennessee recruit your own 5 stars harder than you is inexcusable on Les' part. But as long as we are showing Luke Muncie love, we're cool.

I guess I never expected some OOS kid to commit to Tenn in May of 2009 when he can't sign until February of 2011. It just seems stupid.

Well Muncie is a 2010 recruit and Johnson a 2011 so to compare circumstances is a bit misleading on your part.

2 years to NSD for Freak. You had a feeling that this might come eventually.
So long to go that I really can't sweat it. I want to, but it would just seem wasted energy for a prospect like him. So much more is in the works between Tenn/LSU and possibly Bama on this one.

Well maybe a situation like this will cause a light to go on that our approach should be tweaked a bit. This is still about as early as I can remember and describing the situation as "lazy" is a pretty negative, typical though, explanation that doesn't do it justice IMO. If it were next May at this time and didn't have a verbal offer, I would shake my head. But it's May of 2009. Hard to say laziness IMO unless you just want to be the consummate shite stirrer as Maximus usually does.

I don't often agree with your views on Miles or the direction of the football program, but I am in full agreement on this.
Saban at Bama, Orgeron and Wilson at Tenn, Trooper Taylor at Auburn have all put a priority on undermining LSU's hold on the state. We have to stay ahead of them in order to keep our big time players coming to LSU. It isn't going to get any easier.

Seriously guys. Sweating over a recruit that can't sign until 2011? If anything, last year should prove that verbals don't mean shite until NSD comes around. There are a LOT of things that can happen between now and then. Chill out. All that matter is what happens in the end. Kiffin may not even be there in two years, they could be on probation, they could stink it up on the field....who knows.

so what is it, if not laziness? Just a standard policy that silly junior recruits need to abide by because we are mighty LSU and they must wait on us to show them any attention?

He excepted a "Greyshirt" Maxipuss. Why don't you explain what that is? That should provide this board with weeks of amusement.

Well according to the article it lends itself to us having given a "verbal" offer when Newberg states something to the effect of, paraphrasing here, LSU, Alabama, UGA, UCLA and many others have come to the school and said a scholarship would be waiting for him."
So maybe you are just wrong again and we just lost him. Now go bitch about that and talk shite about the staff. Either way your agenda works out again. YAY for you.

And it's May of 2009. He hasn't even started his junior year of high school yet and probably isn't even done with exams for sophomore year. It's extremely early, even you could admit as much.

first off, nice edit on misspelling greyshirt. Second, it's accepted not excepted. And third, he accepted the greyshirt offer because he did not meet the minimum academic requirements needed to enroll last fall.

Well this thread went to shite real quick.

No matter how you want to state it, Rockey Duplessis graduated high school in May of 2008 and was not academically eligible to join the LSU team in the summer of 2008.
