Well, when Ole Miss, Texas, A & M, Alabama and Tulane have more presence than LSU what would you call it? I can't understand it. Hell, Skip would even come around now and then.

1) If there is a talented kid not named cecchini in that area, p.m. will recruit him.

2) Those programs haven't exactly lit it up. (tulane, bama, ole miss ect) and, it's well documented about jones and cecchini having issues.

3) Maybe these kids are talented and very good ball players for the state of louisiana. However, maybe there are more talented kids accross the country you may want to recruit.

There is a certain level of player needed if you want to make it back and win the college world series. Because there is a good ball player at barbe doesn't mean you go get him. Maybe there is a great ball player in indiana.

Bama got the center fielder from there a few years back and is an all american now. that was big news. however, at the time, p.m. had leon landry, mahtook, j mitchel, ryan shimpf, d.j., nola, hanover, dean, ect. who do you say no to out of that group? he won the n.c. with them. My point, not that the kid isn't good, the kids p.m. got were pretty damn good too.

it doesn't appear p.m. has recruited poorly. it appears he's recruited to good. i don't see him taking nearly as many chances with kids who are going to be high draft choices. it's burned him and the reason he's had the season's he's had the last two years. cecchini is/was a part of this problem.

p.m. will more than likely than not be a hall of fame coach. he's been at it to long and has had to much success not to know how to run the program. he's well respected among m.l.b. which holds a little more weight than his relationship with cecchini. tommy lasorda is his god father, the chicago cubs g.m. is his best friend. he can get kids looks/opportunities to m.l.b.. he will survive the cecchini dispute.

Dugas was from Lafayette not Barbe.

Bama had a pitcher from Barbe named Wade something a few years ago. Plays for the Padres now.

ETA: Wade Leblanc

Agree. My perspective is a little different. I agree PM will survive. I agree LSU will survive. I have heard what the Lake Charles posters have heard. Some of those kids will want to go to LSU, and you hope they get the chance despite differences between two adults. Up to now, many have shown interest in them EXCEPT LSU. If that is because PM doesn't think they are SEC material, ok, we have to trust his judgement.

But I don't think that is the case. I think there is some adult drama that is the roadblock. We'll see.

It's been known here for a long time Cecchini is not an LSU supporter. Do you think it's a coincidence that all kids from here grow up huge LSU fans but don't end up going to school there? There's a common equation in that for the last 15 years.

Exactly what I've heard too......this isn't just a PM issue.

Hopefully for LSU and Barbe's sake......it can be rectified one day. Hate to see good ball players not have the opportunity to come to LSU because of hurt feelings.

Especially if they grew up LSU fans.

I may be wrong but I get the feeling that cecchini thinks he controls where the kids in the Barbe program attend and that if LSU were to upset him that he will send his kids elsewhere. I have to assume that all Louisiana kids playing college bb are aware of the elite tradition at LSU and would laugh at any effort on cecchini dictating such an effort. I assure you that LSU could end cecchinis career should they desire to do so. Bottom line if you attend Barbe you dont play for LSU. Try sam houston, sulphur, or any number of other schools in the area that have traditionally had good programs. cecchini's kids can go play elsewhere. In th end it doesnt help us to sign kids who are going pro een if LSU scholly ups there stock.

Much ado about nothing.

Cecchini will not play college baseball anywhere.

Only 1 player since 1986, that was named as the Gatorade Player of the Year, actually played baseball in college, the last being Stanford's AJ Hinch in 1992. LINK

Cecchini won LA Gatorade Player of the Year, not National Gatorade Player of the Year. Austin Nola and Jared Mitchell were LA POY.
