the guy is a tremendous athlete...i really hope we get him...if the LSU staff waits on richardson too long thinking that he may decommit, then that's just more time for michael to decide not to pick LSU..jmo but i think we need to take him soon if not now

Does he have a commitable offer from LSU?"
Tammony Tom:
Why is a commitable offer so difficult for a lot of you to comprehend?
A lot of you think that schools have unlimited scholarships to offer every year. In an average year, a school only has 25 scholarships to offer. In some years, some schools have less. This is a year where LSU has less than 25 scholarships to offer.
There are basically 7 positions to recruit for on offense (RB, QB, WR, TE, OT, OG, and C). There are basically 6 positions to recruit on defense (DE, DT, OLB, MLB, CB, and S). Some years schools need a punter or a kicker or both. That means that in an average year a school has 25 slots for 13 different positions and sometimes 14 or 15 positions if they need a Kicker or a punter.
LSU's major needs this year were Offensive linemen, Defensive lineman, Linebackers, QB, and WR's. They also wanted to recruit 2 RB's and at least 3-4 DB's.
LSU has 22 scholarships to offer, 23 at most.
Before the 2009 recruiting period began they needed at least 5 OL, 4 DL, 2 QB's, 3 WR's, 3-4 LB's, 4 DB's, and 2 RB's.
LSU needed 2 big RB's and received very early commitments from Michael Ford and Dexter Pratt who are both big RB's. LSU does not need another RB. They really don't have room for another RB in this class. However, they lust after Trent Richardson from Pensacola, FL who is currently a soft commit to Bama. Richardson's brother goes to UL-Lafayette. His mother wants Trent to go to school close to his brother. If LSU was going to take a 3rd RB, it was going to be Richardson.
So...........when you ask does Michael have a commitable offer? The answer is No, because Trent Richardson is the one back they really, really want and he has major interest in LSU.
So in review:
LSU has 2 RB's committed. They don't have room for a 3rd, but really, really want Trent Richardson. Both Richardson and Christine Michael are very interested in LSU. Trent is committed to Bama, but is very soft. Trent is communicating weekly with the LSU coaching staff.
The question facing the LSU coaching staff is: Does LSU give the slot to Michael if he wants it and tell Richardson that the slot is gone or do they tell Micheal that the slot isn't available and go all in for Richardson who isn't a sure thing.
This is a recruiting situation that every coaching staff has to deal with on a weekly basis. Why is it so difficult for some of you to comprehend?

that's not difficult to comprehend at all...difficult situation to be in though
If richardson is going to decommit or whatever he needs to do it now(or at least most LSU fans wish he would)...he's not even in school so it shouldnt be a huge load on his back(picking the right school)at least yet..so apparently he likes bama...
decisions decisions...........

report from the head A&M recruitnik on scout has CM visiting LSU on Tuesday and then A&M next weekend... he should be making a decision in the next couple of weeks.

I don't know about that. We are stacked at RB for the next 4 years, as is LSU.
It will come down to where he feels most comfortable. Unfortunately for us, the recent MNCs LSU has are a huge selling point.
Should be a tight race.

Imagine the problem LSU could face in the next few years concerning divvying up carries between all its RB's.
Ford, Pratt, Michael/Richardson, Lache. That would be one heck of a crowded backfield.

Yea, until one gets hurt or transfers. I dont have a problem with it at all.
They might not know it but its in their best interest, when they enter the NFL fresh their career might last twice as long as others that were workhorses in college.
