You obviously don't read this board.

And there it is. There is NO "accurate and up to date information about where the kids are headed" so we give credence to what other people make up - hence the drama.
We want accurate information and to the extent that people pay recruiting sites I would assume they expect and DEMAND accurate information about things like recruits abilities, school's recruiting efforts, projections/news about commitments, etc. To say that some of this info does not exist or can never be 100% accurate, specifically the projections, in no way indicates that drama is demanded by anyone.

There would be no drama if no one paid any attention. How can you not understand that?

Yea, i also heard brown committed to us. his parents are hs coaches so i never suspected thay would 'LIE". they really look bad by lying to or misleading the sister. they put her in an awful position with her track coaches. but, i guess its recruiting and they don't give a shite.
we did put in a lot of work to get her qualified. i guess parents will come back and ask for us to help her transfer.

Didn't Godchaux commit AFTER his injury? He was planning to announce later in the year, then his injury happened, and he committed soon after.
It was most likely always a scholarship hold for him.
I kinda think that way too. "oh shite, better get me a spot locked down just in case". I still won't say either way. Until he does decommit or stay here, I won't speak much more on the subject.

Davon has always been tiger lock, and his family wants him there too. I don't see him flipping but I guess anything can happen.
Scout.com had Davon at the top of the LSU recruit list as a "soft verbal" for a few weeks now. I didn't see anyone talk about it, but was curious as to why he was a soft verbal when the guy was given a spot in spite of his injury. Regardless, you people whistling past the graveyard saying nothing is wrong are in denial. Something isn't right. And no, it's not because we have shitty fans that say bad things and the rest of the nations fan bases are full of boyscouts and girlscouts. Louisiana, per capita, sends more players to the NFL than any other state. This is why the "fence" is important. Every college has a better chance of keeping a kid in state than pulling him away from home and family.

But right now, losing Landon Collins brother and his buddy, doesn't strike me as a real problem. We probably should have been more cautious. I am a bit more nervous about how we close out this class than I probably should be.

What's the fricking deal with these DL guys? LSU is dubbed DBU, but they put just as many guys in the NFL on the DL. I seriously don't understand the trouble that LSU is having recruiting that position this year. It's an obvious area of concern with all the early departures to the NFL.
Am I missing something here?!?

Maybe the panic has something to do with the majority of the top players in the state committing elsewhere. There's no sugarcoating it...this class has been a disappointment compared to what so many believed to be one of the greatest classes in CFB history.

The number and quality of kids from LA that are not going to LSU will be unprecedented. No reasonable person would expect to get them all but something isnt right here.

If MD/KY/DG end up at UCLA, that will be indeed true. However, if by the power of Thor they all end up at LSU, it will be a very, very good class.
The coaching staff has their work really cut out for them in the next few weeks, to convince these young men that their state school really needs them (a lot).

Because of the amount of top tier talent in this years LA class LSU has suffered a great deal of negative recruiting.

Nice. I just get the feeling the staff has been caught flat footed, piss poor up north piss poor down south. And I know it wont do any good but its hard not to play the "what if" game. But, if we close well still a good class.

I wonder how many people on this board sat through a 2-4 hour crappy sales pitch about time-shares in order to get a free trip? I have, twice. Why are so many people bent out of shape that Davon is getting a freebie? Everybody wants a free one. Let him get his!

This thread is as long as it is bc ppl thought he decommited. With our class sitting the way it is at this point, we shouldn't have to deal with surprises from the kids we have treated right

While not everyone demands drama, the demand for recruiting coverage fuels the sense of self-importance the recruits have. I'm pretty sure the recruitment process for high school golfers isn't nearly as dramatic because nobody cares (played golf in high school, no disrespect intended). They know they don't have an audience to play to. It's not an excuse for behaving a certain way, but it is a factor.
Also, while it's nice that LSU offered him a scholarship, let's not pretend it's not self-serving. Would LSU have offered him the scholarship, post injury, if he was a marginal prospect? It's a risk-reward situation. LSU isn't doing this simply out of the goodness of our hearts.

That's ridiculous, we're consuming a product here. I'm not part of the media, nor do I get paid to watch - nor do I have to pay to watch - NFL games on network television, but that doesn't mean the product isn't being produced for my consumption.
quote:
So, why does that mean I or anyone else DEMANDS the drama?
Because in the absence of 'accurate' information, you still consume inaccurate information. A recruit may be asked where he's going to school one day, and when he says he doesn't know, he will be asked if he's leaning towards a school. He may then say he doesn't know. The next day the same thing, and then the next and so on. Eventually the kid will just start making shite up or just saying anything in his amazement that his first answer isn't satisfactory, or indeed that anyone demands to know NOW and not simply wait until siging day to find out. There are endless discussions on this board regarding rumors and innuendo, with very few facts or accurate information. Indeed the VAST majority of content on this board is NOT 'accurate information', yet people still flock to it.

No, it's more like saying if no one went to baseball games, they wouldn't have baseball games.
I don't believe you can't see that if no one paid attention to recruiting, none of this 'drama' would exist. It's an obsession with the decisions of teenagers on where they intend to play a game that serves as the engine for ridiculousness.
It's apparent that you simply don't want to acknowledge your complicity in the whole issue of recruiting drama. Face it, that shite gets EATEN UP on ths board and thousands like it. As long as it is, there will be a supply of it.

If we lose Davon, then we pretty much have no d line for this class. Willis is gone, and Clark will likely stay in Oklahoma with Mom for good reasons.
