Byrd was a highly ranked player and respected, he's from La and should be playing for LSU.

"if we want to wait until 4 years down the line to discuss a prospect this board wouldn't be any fun now would it?"

Probably not but it would at least signify a quantum leap in the collective intelligence of the board.

It's Bad Cat, the guy still thinks John Brady is a great coach. Pay him no mind.
They had some on here think since LSU beat Duke Brady is a better coach than Coach K. so why is Brady not coaching Team USA.

I don't know much about either, but would have to imagine that Molton and Byrd being equals and LSU offering Moltons qb, Jordan Jefferson, it would make sense that they offered the receiver who has a strong relationship with the potential starting qb down the road.

hey clean who did you feel was the better prospect coming out? some people on here refuse to admit that maybe, just maybe byrd was LSU material.

I had Byrd ranked first until P.J. bent my ear with the shite about Molten at the camp.....

This is a situation where I'm going to have to review the film of the particulars again. B/C you can make a viable case for either one to be ranked first.

And for anyone doubting Laron Byrd's ability? Get your shite right....yeah, I said it b/c I can and I'm still feeling brash from my weekend job at the club....so I talk a little extra smack on the weekends....

But I digress....Byrd and Molten are both players with the talent to be on any SEC roster. Now (for the dumb shits), there just aren't quite enuff SEC roster spots available for all the bad azz talent we got down here, so some flock to ULM, some go to Southern, some go to Louisiana Tech, some go JUCO for a variety of reasons....

We've got mad athletic talent down here in the boot....hey, i'm old and white and i'm fast as hell, so you know we got some good shite in the water down here.....

Some go to Nebraska and everywhere else.....we got Louisiana kids all over the country playing college ball and holdin it down....

If they were good enough to be on SEC rosters the would be. The argument that there arent enough roster spots is not valid. The amount of roster spots is actually perfect, otherwise it would be changed. It excludes those that either a)are deemed not skilled enough or b) those that chose to exclude themselves.

Guys like Laron Byrd and PJ Smith and others that went to BCS conference schools would be considered those that chose to eliminate themselves. Because in most cases they had SEC offers but chose to go elsewhere.

But I think you would be very hard pressed to find someone that passed up an SEC scholly to go to Tech, ULM, or Southern, meaning that they were deemed not skilled enough to compete on the SEC level.

wow, good rebuttal. I offered a cogent argument without flaming or saying anything personal about you. But instead of defending your position you resort to personal attack. I would venture to guess that you are a democrat.

And for the record, I didn't express any opinion concerning the initial post....i.e., the promulgation that "the staff dropped the ball"...on Byrd...

He's worthy, but not enuff spots available for the all the talent in the area (especially considering roster needs - that's a BIG part of this shite)

I didn't say he wasn't worthy, actually in two different posts in this thread I said he was. I said that he took himself out the roster spot equation by choosing to go to a comparable school outside of the SEC.

But to say that there arent enough roster spots available for talented enough players is false. There are enough roster spots for every player that SEC coaches feel like should play in this league (and want to play in this league). Meaning that someone who is offered to play in the SEC and chooses not to doesn't matter and those who want to but arent offered aren't good enough.

Huh...not so fast, my friend.

Not that signing Byrd would have been a mistake either. I was very impressed with P.J.'s accolades about Molton (he didn't say anything about latiger09 though....i'm still working on that)....#13 doesn't say much period, let alone just randomly heap praise somewhere. If he says a guy is a beast, then he is a beast.

Well, that's good to hear.

I just remember hearing that Byrd was all over LSU. It's true that we realistically can't sign all the top skill talent in the state...unless we start running the A-11.

This is so wrong. I really thought no one would be stupid enough to post something like this, and mean it. I was wrong. Great first hand information. Reeks of dependability.

Molton is on campus and looking the part from what I hear. I don't know if we should have gone after Byrd or Molton but the simple fact of the matter is that Molton came to the camp and was so impressive the coaches offered him and he committed. Maybe if Byrd would have done the same things would be different because I know he was given every opportunity to come to a camp and display is ability.

So we can whine and bitch all we want about who should have been offered based on some reports by message board posters on the NB of Byrd tearing their garbage arse defense and garbage arse team to pieces and say that LSU is missing the boat on the kid? Last time I checked LSU straight skull fvcked that Miami team that continues it's stretch of mediocrity(see last year 48-0 home loss to UVA).

So I'm not prepared, as some of my fellow posters are, to jump off a damn bridge because we offered a guy that the staff saw in person and didn't offer another guy that never showed up at the camp.

And yet I'm not the one asking ignorant questions with obvious answers.

Does it make you feel better to belittle others? That's because you can't get there on your own. Your selection of a ficticious hero as your namesake is excellent for you.
