Should void their "amateur" status.
Market value of kids coming out of high school is zero. Nothing but bribes going on right now.
CONgress needs to step in and shut this "amateur" college player BS down.

One path to change would be for the federal government to classify the kind of clearinghouse LLCs A&M is using as Non-Practicing Entities, since they don’t produce any verifiable work product. The term is typically used for “patent troll” holding companies that acquire patents and IP only to sue others and collect licensing fees. However, since neither type of company produces anything, it fits.
If a federal NIL law were to disallow any NPEs from making payments to players for any reason, that would shut down what A&M is doing to pool money. It not a perfect fix, but it closes one loophole down.
They might prefer to leave the door open to non-profits. They require paperwork and verification of where funds are coming from and where they go. The paper trail could sink anyone not playing by the rules. Anyone breaking the rules could be rung up for fraud or embezzlement.

We have sleaze too. We just need to get more organized and outbid them, then no one cares about a salary cap, lol.

How do you cap it, the schools aren't paying the money. I don't know if the NIL deals even have to be reported to the NCAA.
There’s two simple ways to do it. 1) some combo of NCAA and conference eligibility requirements, and 2) federal regulations enforced through federal tax code.
1) Eligibility: a rule to the effect of limiting the amount a collegiate athlete can earn for name, image and likeness adjusted for state costs of living (to even the playing field for more expensive states like California.) All income would have to be reported, and a player who accepts more than the authorized limit would be declared ineligible to compete. Any under-the-table deals would immediately disqualify the player and potentially their school, like old pay for pay.
2) federal regulation. Tax the heck out of anything over a set amount.
