I'm not discounting what Matherne did either. He did have a great season. I believe had Leesville played Bastrop in the quarters and Ford broken the single-season rushing record, he would have won the award. He needed just over 100 yards to break the mark.

You are discounting what he did by saying if Ford would have played Bastrop. They didn't so get over it.

It's true. If the homecooking refs didn't screw Ford out of the playoffs he would've broken the single season record, wrapping up the title.

And if the ref's wouldn't have called an incomplete pass a fumble Eunice would have played Bastrop.

Leesville didn't have any defense

Not sure to be honest. They were better than Shaw. They might've beaten Bastrop with a hurt Randle. It would've been a good game against Belle Chasse. You act like BC was a top 5 nationally ranked team. They were the 12 seed. It's not out of question that Ford would've exploded on them and taken over the game.

Never said BC was a nationally ranked team. That ref call cost Eunice the game.

BC gave up a lot of points to everyone but Shaw.

This looks to be an awrrd voted on AFTER the season ends. If they vote after Week 10, Ford wins it.

STFU! I don't think that Rob Walker is a player. Dumb arse, get your facts straight. Follow the conversation.

Shaw was good.

Leeville beat 2 teams over .500 all year. Two 6-4 teams at that and lost to a 7-5 Zachary team in the playoffs.

Shaw had won 9 in a row going into the dome, beating teams like 9-3 Breaux Bridge, 10-1 Benton, 10-3 Salmen, 7-3 Pearl River.

And they also handed BC their only loss on the season. They were a better team than Ford.

No, they were far from it. They werent even one of the 5 best teams in the state, prob

4A was pretty weak, but Bastrop has won how many titles in a row?

thats a nice measuring stick, IMO.

This does not mean Div 1 schools will flock to him. He is undersized. See Randall Mackey

Mackey was 6'1 200. Led Bastrop to 3 state championships. Signed with Ole Miss. Went the JUCO route and has dominated there, if he can get his grades straight he will be at Ole Miss in the future. He was the best player in the state last year and that is why he won. I had never heard of this Matherne kid before this year and doubt we will hear anything about him in the future.

And when will we hear from Mackey again?
I'm still wondering how the hell he graduated from Bastrop. I talked to people that were in his classes that said the kid could barely read and they never saw him get a passing grade.
