Last day to enter the portal with exceptions...Deadline to enroll at LSU is March 20

Miami and Indiana players will have until Saturday, January 24 to enter the portal...

Updated Transfer Portal Rules:
Players will be able to officially enter the transfer portal from January 2 through January 16, 2026. This moves all portal activity out of December and removes the old spring window. This main portal window opens right after the CFP quarterfinals. Players who are still competing in later playoff rounds will get a separate five day window after their final game to enter.
Coaching Change Exception:
Players now have a 15 day window to enter the portal immediately after their head coach leaves. They also get another window that begins five days after the new coach is hired or publicly introduced.
Note: the portal window is the time frame for players to enter the portal. They don't have to sign with a new school before the window ends. However, if they want to enroll at their new school for the spring semester, they will have to do so in accordance with the new school's academic calendar.

quote:I did some research on that...I found this about Jayden Daniels...LSU still has the accelerated spring session...the last day to enroll in it is March 20.
So what happens if you commit somewhere but miss the day to enroll. What then happens?
quote:
Daniels is slated to arrive in Baton Rouge on March 14th, while the rest of the students are on spring break. That will give him a chance to enroll in what LSU calls an “accelerated session.”
Classes for the second spring “accelerated session” will begin on March 21st and final exams are held on May 7th and 9th. To participate in spring ball, a student must be enrolled in classes.
Daniels will start class on March 21st and LSU will begin its spring practice on March 24. The spring game will be held on April 23rd.

Do Oregon & Ole Miss players have a few extra days? The portal opened before their last games.

I would imagine you have to wait out the spring semester and enroll in the summer which means you wouldnt be going through a lot of offseason workouts and spring practices but I could be wrong

Only in college football do you get disadvantaged for winning. 5 days after your season ends and after most of the portal money’s already been spent. Makes sense.

Can you imagine being the runner-up? Adds insult to injury
However, I’d take a Natty for that.
I’m sure they have people working the portal all this time anyway

Not really, they can enroll in the second accelerated spring session by March 20th. I think the last date for the regular spring season is January 22nd.
