If you're going to fail at recruiting a Top 20 QB, why not bring him in for depth and give him a chance to prove himself.
I'll leave you with his 2013 QB notes (personal goals):

The kid is thinking about the right things as a QB.

230 yards passing 3 TDs and 90 yards rushing 2 TDs. Not a bad night!! The kid accounted for 5 TDs and a few is saying we was not impressive, Lord!!

Missed a lot of open receivers in first half and receivers yard after catch helped his stats
Sometimes receivers do not get where they are supposed to be. Sometimes the ball is thrown in the "safe" zone to be what else but Safe...

We definitely don't want raw talent that needs to be coached up.
Most of the people on this board realize this kid took the LA Bootleggers 7 on 7 team to the Nationals this past summer. The Bootleggers are almost exclusively SEC/Big12 D1 talent on the team. Maybe you ought to ask those guys and his coach what they think of his skills.

Not sure how far the "too short" excuse will go when our current 6'3" QB is still getting passes knocked down at the line and isn't seeing wide open receivers.

Just as it was a conspiracy that hardly anyone was willing to offer the 5'9" Doug Flutie either.
"Aware that his 5-foot 9-inch (1.75-metre) height" would prevent him from being considered a suitable candidate to play in the National Football League (NFL), Boston Collge QB Doug Flutie signed a contract with the New Jersey Generals of the upstart United States Football League (USFL) instead.
