Why would they talk about a comeback if she’s retiring?!

She was on the floor with the team tonight. No boot so I’m guessing it was an ACL tear

Do we know why brinkman didn’t do vault? Wasn’t that her strongest event and mostly likely lineup spot?

Also there are people out there saying Cowan may be out of bars(crazy). I think jay will rotate that last spot between haley, Maddie, Jeffrey, and Nina. I think Courtney is a lock, and Lexie will be your leadoff again this year.

IMO, the best bars lineup is Jeffrey, Ulrich, Chio, Mustari, Blackson and McClain. Zeiss and Cowan basically scored the same last year. Cowan had six scores of 9.90+ while Zeiss had five. Mustari has a higher upside and can score a 10….thats why I give her the edge for the 6th spot.

I only worry a little bit about the depth and inexperience on vault and beam. This is the best bars has looked in years imo

Floor will always be very strong, we have options

I agree with all except Jeffrey. I think Cowan/Zeiss/Jeffrey are all in competition for the lead off spot and they’ve all done their jobs there before. I probably give the edge to Cowan as a consistent competitor there.

Overall we are looking strong, the transfers have been very impactful. Blackson should obviously be on vault and bars and Ulrich AA.

Also very impressed by the Victoria Roberts development. Three entirely plausible events.

I agree with you on the leadoff for bars. That’s not usually a spot jay wants to play around with. I also think(hope) jay really utilizes the depth he has in all events and doesn’t pull an okla. use ur best on away meets and play with lineups at home.

Also no one has said anything about brinkman not vaulting. Any news? Or why Konnor don’t vault? I know we don’t need her there but I would have thought he let her go last nite. I think chio if your only AA every week barring injury. I feel like there could be a few 3 eventers and 2 eventers.
I hope there’s a chance we can see Kathryn in the 6th spot on an event at home against someone like penn st.

YES the rankings after the week one meets are good indicator of where those teams are after week one, however, I tend not to pay much attention to them until about week three when the rest of the country has begun their season fully. I think it’s also interesting to note that no team hit 197 in their opening meet during week one, which has not happened since I don’t know when. It’ll be interesting to see how the match up this weekend goes and how it’s scored for us, Utah, Oklahoma, and UCLA.

I have heard the scoring would be conservative this season. Chiles scored big so it looks like she will continue to be strong for UCLA.

Yes, they will favor certain gymnasts as usual. That never changes.

I know. It happens with some of our gymnasts as well. It really bugs me though. The girls they do it for are already good, they don’t need help.

If there’s one thing we can always count on from year to year it’s that Florida home scoring is gonna Florida home score :|

Alabama wasn't far behind Fla's home scoring tonight with a 197.475.

There is so much hate for Jay on Reddit just because he questioned the value given to Lexie's beam score. Reddit has some of the most vile posters of any social media platform that I have come across. Most posters are for pacific west teams and despise the SEC. The moderators allow foul language and the demeaning of individual gymnasts. It is sad the hate that is dumped on this forum.

I’m trying to understand how Ulrich got the floor score she got. There were far worse routines that even scored higher than Ballou on floor
