Here's an old coaches question: Say you've got two guys trying out for the baseball team; one runs to first base in 5 seconds with beautiful form, the other runs to first base in 5 seconds but has terrible form. Which one do you take? Obviously, the one with bad form! Why? Because when you TEACH him proper form, he'll be at first base in fewer than 5 seconds. Worley has 90+ TDs, 7500 yds, etc, etc -- in short, higher numbers than Williams, even with the "mechanical issues." Get that kid in here, let Billy Gonzales have him for a few years, and then unleash him to light-up the rest of the SEC.

Oh, and by the way (and this is to all the PC Thugs out there in Yankeeland and beyond), Justin Worley is SMARTER because he's smarter, not because he's white (as has been insinuated). Case in point, a 4.1 gpa is better than a 3.0 gpa I've been told; brains will win out over brawn EVERY time.

You can have all the technique you want in the world and you can rack up as many yards as you want in high school but if you are throwing 15 or more picks in a season in high school you are going to get destroyed in the SEC. Carelessness is a hard habit to break i.e Jared Lee. And sorry i really do not want a repeat of that. And, Gonzales did such a great job with Tebow's technique issues right. And Jamarcus Russel is not comparable to Williams williams is very mobile where Jamarcus could run but i wouldn't call him a run threat. His best comparison would be a poor mans Vince Young

I agree oldIowaTiger.Williams does appear to be our top target at QB with Bridgewater a close 2nd.Strange that both are guys that have a great chance of ending up at Miami(they're the favorite for both and I've always said that no way do they get both. It's possible and Miami fans will say probalbe but I have a hard time seeing 2 similar QBs going to the same school no matter how much they love the school. They have futures to think about.)

If there is a moment were Worley and Williams are begging to commit then we may have that problem, but right now, Williams seems like our most realistic QB

Brains will win out over brawn every time, ceteris paribus, obviously! Dr. Stephen Hawking is "smarter" than us all, but I'm guessing throwing a 50-yard pass is a little tough from his wheelchair. Worley and Williams are both SEC-calibre QBs ... unlike Mr. Hatch.

Gotta watch all this brains talk. You don't have to be a stud in academia to have a good FB IQ, see Terry Bradshaw

Agreed. Williams' arm strength looks very average.

And Worley's film is better? Hell, his wide receivers bail him out on most of his throws, and a lot of his video is catch and runs by the receivers. Very unimpressive

Not what I've read...highlight tapes can be deceptive you know. I've read Williams has a good arm...

I really hope people on here realize that Billy Gonzales (a career WR coach) is not going to produce dramatic improvements if any at all in our QBs. Once people realize that, it will make next year easier to handle.

Okay, I'm at a loss. Why did he get hired as our new quarterbacks coach then, if he's not going to make any real difference? We're not that stupid, are we?

Dude...

Passing game coordinator/WR coach =/= QB coach.

Not sure what gave you the impression that BG is a "QB coach." Does he work with QB's directly in regards to timing their throws, dropbacks, and learning the offense? Sure. Does he teach them throwing mechanics? Probably not, or only minimally so. BG was a WR in college, and a WR coach at UF. He is NOT a QB coach.

His title is passing game coordinator. He's not really the QB coach. It still doesn't make sense that people already assess his coaching abilities before he even starts his first season on the staff.
