But Chavis will be our DC in 2010 just like 2009, so I don't see the difference there.
the hope is that if chavis is only ok, that we'll have the offense to hang 40 on anyone

We expect to be good in 2009.. but we expect to be great between 2010-2012.
I expect to be great this year, if JJ is as good as I think he is, and if Chavis is a bigtime DC.
But if neither of those are true, I'm not sure how 2010-2012 will be much different. JJ will still be our QB, and Chavis will still be our DC.

Gives us a chance to develop the speedier LBs instead of the more traditional LBs we're used to.
Perry Riley is a speedy LB who I expect to have a great year this year, and hopefully Coleman can be another. I'm very confident Riley will be a guy who emerges as bigtime under a competent DC.
Yall are right on Cutrera/Sheppard for this year. But the thing is, Sheppard is still a starter for 2010 at least.

Well, I think we can have that offense this year if JJ is as good as I think he is. Having a Senior class of Black, Lafell, Scott, and Dickson is nothing to sneeze at on that side of the ball.

JJ was still only about a 50% passer last year. to expect him to be a 65% passer next year is to expect a lot

Lache isnt a must get IMO

as long as we play miles ball on offense, i agree
it's just a dream...not just to get him to sign, but to use him to his fullest

I do think he can, bc much of those passing stats were accumulated when he had no reps in practice. After he got a month or so of practice reps as a starter, we saw what he could do against GTech. He completed something like his first 9 passes of the game. So I think a 60% is realistic for him this year.

Yall will see this year, it will be Crowton ball.

didn't he finish the game right at 50%?

and if he develops his running
Slow, I know it's early and we have a small sample size to go on, but I HATE the way he runs. And I don't just mean going out of bounds either. I saw so many times where he just sort of pulled up once contact was made. I swear there was one near the goal line against GT where they almost broke him in half because he did that. That is a recipe for injury. JR ran much the same way until the back end of 2006 when he changed his running style and was much more effective.

we're abandoning the i as our base offense to move to a 4-5 WR offense?
Posted on 6/21/09 at 10:53 pm to SlowFlowPro
16-25 passing in that game.

yeah he's not a natural runner. i'm hoping he learns. i don't think this is something you can learn though (see: reggie bush)

i think it was a scheme/philosophy change more than anything

Sort of. We'll abandon it for the 3 WR set of Lafell, Toliver, and Randle. We'll still have Dickson at TE, but split out wide a lot.

SFP, one thing yall are missing is JJ isn't nearly as big as somone like VY or Pryor. VY just shook off guys in the pocket, he is a big dude.

I disagree. We've gone from having the best FB in the nation last year, to not having one this year for now.
But yeah, I agree that we'll never totally abandon it. Why would you 100% abandon a power running game when you have Charles Scott?

Vince redshirted to gain size. he was not big at 18-19
