Miami had been a dynasty for damn near 25 years by that time. It was still the marquee program

LOL, no. They arrived in 83, not 73.

remember Miami coming into Death Valley and stomping a pretty good LSU team. Not a good memory and don't ever want to go back to those days! 1984.

Berlin went to Florida first to play for spurrier. He was beaten out by Grossman and transferred to Miami.

That’s right. 88. Every time we had the ball it freakin stormed. Closest 44-3 game I’ve ever seen. We played hard.

I know, put him where he wound up. Ernie Badeaux wound up at Nicholls too and Billy Beron never stayed at Tennessee, Malcolm and Jacobs didn’t stay at Auburn, Reggie and Ike Wilson never lasted at Moo State either, but both died in the street life.

Yeah, I try to forget any guy I think LSU should have gotten, so I don't remember any of those. I also especially remember forgetting Leroy Hoard -Nebraska, Johnny Hector, Billy Cannon, Jr. -Texas A&M, and Brad Banta -USC.

I believe very strongly in Ed.

Recruiting ED ReedEd Reed was a QB at Destrehan and a damn good one. Many missed on him.

If you mean "missed" in the sense of "wanted more than any player in the state but shite, we didn't get him" then yea. Many missed. If you are inferring "overlooked" you are mistaken.

If I wanted to say “overlooked,” I would’ve said “overlooked.”
If you are inferring I meant “overlooked” instead of “missed on,” you are mistaken.

Leroy Hoard went to Michigan. You may be thinking of Leroy Etienne who went to Nebraska.

Happy to see I was wrong, but technically "a lot" of people didn't "miss" on Ed. Every single school in the World did. Sanz Miami

John Emery - Tennessee I believe
Wade from Evangel went to Tennessee
Shyrone Carey went to Tennessee before transferring to LSU (all of those Shaw dudes were so good in the 90's)

FYI..Beron never left Tennessee.

I grew up in NOLA and either myself or my brother played against all those guys in HS (1982-1989). My dad was very good friends with Max Emfinger so I had an idea where most kids were signing. My brother was the MVP of the NO Catholic league (played QB) and he verbally committed to OK State in 1988. OSU gets put on probation b/c of Hart Lee Dykes, loses scholarships, and my brother signed with Ole Miss.

I played against Reggie Dupard (SMU) who was on a whole 'nother planet. Curtis was 1A and 2AA back in the day and destroyed teams by 60+ pts. John White (Met. Park Country Day 1985) was one of my good friends who set a National HS passing yardage record 8,000+ yds and signed with Penn State. His record was later passed by Todd Marinovich in 1987 and countless others to date.
