It is all pretty silly to debate the top 5 or 10 recruiting classes anyway.
If a school has a top 5 class, they got a hell of a class and are doing something right. If they get a top 10 class, it's pretty much the same thing.
What really matters is A)Did they fit their needs B) Did they get enough top tier talent to compete against other top tier schools
While I don't believe stars are the end all and be all, I do believe their is a direct correlation between the average number of stars and the quality of a class. Any class that averages over 3.5 is a really good class of athletes.
Then you've got to get them in weight training, get their grades, teach them the system, hope they don't do something stupid or illegal, have the best system in place for their skill set, pray that they don't get injured, make the right coaching decisions on the field, have a good team chemistry, have the schedule and the BCS fall into place, rub a rabbit's foot while holding a four leaf clover, and keep them from getting the clap from the coed population.

Yea, the guy said that even if Bama got 6 4*'s, then they'd still be 25 points short of LSU as long as we sign Reuben and Mingo.

all of us are not that lucky

Bama has to get Massie to be in it (he's a 5 star prep player).
Otherwise, they have to pull 7 four star players in addition to getting Kirkpatrick.
That's just not gonna happen.

If they were to get every top prospect they're going after, maybe, but they won't. But they'll make a good push for it because they're trying to sign a billion kids once again, manipulating the system.
Only the top 20 of your class count in the ranking formula that Rivals uses.

and for every one above 20 you knock off a low 3 star and lower upping your points. stop pretending that over signing has no impact.

Yeah we did, you can go to the site and look
But, like I said with Preyear and Murphy making it on campus and counting toward that class, we made up for the enrollment fall rankings with ND. And again, I think on the field ours proved its number 1 status.
And I'd be kinda surprised right now if we aren't the number 1 class via Rivals this year. I didn't think anybody had a chance over LSU until all star weekend when Debose, Campbell, and Bostic didn't commit to you guys. But I feel good about us getting 5 5*s on Rivals same as LSU (with Randle) as we're looking good for both Massie and of course Dre (I'm not gonna get my hopes up with that Reid kid, I think he's FSU bound). And I see us bringing in at least 5 more 4* guys, but probably more.

The way I look at it, the ones that are above 20 are the 3 stars so they wouldn't count anyway. LMFAO.
So you are saying that Bama oversigns just 4 and 5* players so the 3* won't count in the Rivals rankings.

If LSU does not get another 4 star+ outside of Randle and Mingo, they will not finish with the #1 class.
If USC gets Manti plus any two average 4stars, their points will jump up to 2894. I do not think LSU will reach that number unless we sign Randle, Mingo and two more four stars.
If LSU gets Randle, Mingo and any one four star, Bama will have to get Dre, Massie and 5 four stars to pass us. And even if Bama got those 7 players, they would not pass USC with Manti plus 2 four stars.
I have no idea how many USC ultimately plans on taking.
Bama is still in strong on Dre, Massie, Moore, Stinson, Kelly, Patrick, Lacy, Patterson, Myles among others. Them getting Randle or Reid would mean all bets are off.
Out of the 9 players I mentioned above, they can only afford to miss out on two and have a good chance. I do not think they get Patterson or Kelly, but I would be surprised if they didn't get all of the rest. It's going to be close.

Well, I guess they can print their back to back national recruiting champions t-shirts. I will then show them my crystal balls. I really don't give a F who is number 1, 2 or 3.
If you finish in the top 10 to 15 then you will always put yourself in a position to win and have a chance.
I am tired of reading about Bama. I want to read about LSU. If I want to read about Bama I would just go to their site.

And number 12 on ESPN. What's your point? You do know that these sites are scouted by DIFFERENT people right?

People should care less about what a class is ranked and more about the kids who make up the class.
How many times did we sign Justin Vincent and how many times did J. Powe sign with Ole Miss? Nobody takes these things into account. Also, last year or the year before we signed a class that was ranked #9 or #10 or something, but that class is really going to be the meat of our team for the next few years. Screw the team rankings, that don't get you crap.
Bottom line... I like the guys we have signed and they will make up a damn fine team and I'm glad that they are Tigers and I will support the hell out of them.

Watts also said Fluker was built like a WR. That is when I changed the channel cause the shite was getting deep.

if scout really has dj fluker that low then i have lost all respect for that site. barry every said fluker would get drafted right now in the NFL, hes in HIGH SCHOOL. he said hes the most impressive Oline prospect hes seen in 20 years. SI just did an article on him, pretty unbelievable. for scout to have ANY line prospect over him is just stupid. how often is a kid that is 6'7 350, wearing size 22 shoes, able to windmill dunk a basketball. this kid is a freak of nature, he will start for 3 years before being either the 1 or 2 pick in the draft, believe it.

i dont think it will matter even if we sign everyone that we should, I really dont believe that overall there is a big diffence b/w 1 and the top 8, but i do believe that RR much like JJones will be a difference maker in the game. Whoever(LSU) gets him will have a player that will probably change the outcome of quite a few games.ie Michael crabtree.
