Also he runs a 4.47 to 4.48 in the 40.

Listed at 4.6. Line'em up in the 100.

JK, I think Jones could be a very good LB for LSU while Mingo will be a 3rd down pass rush specialist.

You would be all over Tahj's sack if he went to WM...

I'd probably back him more than I have Mingo. I'm still on the fence about him. His lack of experience scares me at the LSU level of play.

He could grow into a situational pass rusher from the WDE position in 2-3 years, but I don't see him being able to add the bulk to stay on the line on running downs.

Ive been thinking this too. He could end up like a vernon gholston who can rush or drop back as an LB or DE to confuse the offense. I noticed a lot of teams do this last year. I think UGA got an int this way against us. Then again, who didn't?

I've watched him play his whole high school career. He plays side to side really fast, doesn't handle blockers real well, plays alot better when the play goes away from him. But i can say LSU (Chavis)wants him bad, but let me say this he will be a special teams Beast.

No way he (Mingo) plays LB at that height

Ever heard of Hall of Fame Oakland Raider Ted Hendricks. A 6'7" fast and strong OLB sounds like a disruptive force.

Tahj is a must get per CHAVIS.

Isn't he just a smaller, slower version of Mingo?

Not really.

I've heard this too but don't know for sure...

I remember seeing his time in a early combine, one of which had Darrington Sentimore in it too. Well, Jones ran a 4.8 and Sentimore ran a 4.8 I believe...so yea...

A year ago, Jones and Ford were among the top targeted LA prospects along with Davenport and Randle!

I've never doubted he's a great talent, but can anyone tell me if Tahj Jones is academically qualified now and if not, what are the chances of his becoming fully qualified in time to be able to practice with the Tigers by the first week of August?

Grades are an issue. Miles does not like to recruit kids with poor grades. I am can't believe that Saban isn't in this mix, since he will recruit just about anybody.

I think this has been the hold-up all along from what I've heard. Miles wanted to offer right away, but has waited to see if he can get his grades together.

This is what is going on with him right now form what I understand.

Apparently he was about 10 points from a qualifying ACT score the first time he took it and hes GPA was way off. Since then, hes hit the books hard and now has a qualifying ACT score and his overall GPA is very close. Technically, someone could flag his ACT score if he qualifies, simply because it improved so much, kinda like the PP situation last year. But right now hes close to qualifying, he just needs to work on his core GPA this semester and he'll be qualified.

I think hes going to get a full offer soon and a greyshirt if grades don't work out.
