It does matter because Fatt Scott stated explicitly that Lane was not a candidate and never was gonna be a candidate. He didn’t like Lane; he would rather LSU lose than put his personal differences aside.

Landry got Woodward fired, who without a shadow of a doubt would not have even interviewed Kiffin. Also, I think Landry should have kept his mouth shut in the press, but Woodward would 100% still be at LSU, and Kiffin would be at Florida or Ole Miss if not for Landry.

Landry used this to promote himself only. He started this drama train with his bombastic approach. His support likely did help Verne and their board close the deal, though.

He definitely got off to a rough start but I don’t see how you can argue he helped get things headed in the right direction. Lsu lacked big time annual financial backing and leadership in the athletic department. We are a better program because he got involved even if he misspoke and stirred up a ton of crap along the way. If he was a democrat the upvotes and downvotes would be swapped around. People make everything political these days.
