What about the other 4 players? There would be 16 players not 12 if I am reading this right why are they not counting these also they aren't on the bus?

UNC said in the statement that it also is trying to establish the eligibility of three other players, but it did identify those players by name. Four players, in addition to the other 12 named, were not seen getting on a team bus this morning: defensive starters Quan Sturdivant (LB), Bruce Carter (LB) and Deunta Williams (S) and running back Johnny White

Yep, and I have been waiting on one more name. Joe Schad said Wednesday that it could be as many as 16 players....sounds like his source was right.

just got an email alert from WAFB saying:
) Three more North Carolina defensive starters are not traveling with the team for Saturday's game in Atlanta against LSU.
School spokesman Kevin Best said that linebackers Quan Sturdivant and Bruce Carter, and safety Deunta Williams weren't on the team plane as the Tar Heels prepared to leave Friday morning.
The three players were not among the 12 identified earlier that would miss the 18th-ranked Tar Heels' opener against the No. 21 Tigers
Total of 15 now...

Not officially out yet ... still trying to clear them before the game. They could rejoin the team in Atlanta if cleared before gametime.

Since Mark Emmerit (sp?) is the new director of NCAA, I wonder if this is his first attempt at helping his old school out. If so, I don't care. Keep it coming. We will take any help we can get.

If they can get cleared by tomorrow they will play.

Time for some frustration to be unvented. Or want. At least there will be some want to vent frustration.
I hope they do pour it on, not our fault that UNC screwed up. If I am Crowton, knowing now who is going to be out, hell, exploit those weaknesses. I know Miles wanted to run a lot, but screw that, with both UNC starting corners out, & strong safety, let them try & stop the pass. Not to mention, their starting left tackle, & starting right end & his backup. If JJ can't get confident passing in a situation like that, well then I guess we have issues for the rest of the season. I don't want to sound too overconfident, but come on, we should at least score 35 or more points in this game.

I change my prediction- if these additional three or out for Saturday, then we should score 42 or more. Their defense has been hit VERY hard, & it's not like they have super backups to put in like Texas or Bama has on their squad.

Okay, they had to have fricked this up, right?

North Carolina, ranked 18th, also is working with the NCAA today to determine the eligibility status of three other unnamed players who will not travel to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A kickoff. The Tar Heels left Friday morning.

So are all these players being suspended for the same thing....or is there just that much shady stuff going on up in Chapel Hill?
Posted on 9/3/10 at 12:01 pm to RummelTiger
if you dont know their status yet, why not just let them travel?

Obviously they have something of major concern on the players to not let them travel with the team. This looks like it will go down to a game time decision...but will the 3 players just drive to the game?? This is some strange shite...

Because if players are ineligible to play, they are also ineligible to travel.
