What you think never happened.
It is not about the internet. I saw it happen. Just saying.

Oregonian here.
Voodoo donuts are total garbage that only tourists go for.
Multnomah falls are pretty but if you're only going to visit Oregon once the best thing to do is to drive the coast along 101. Anywhere from about Cannon Beach to Coos Bay or Brookings is the best. Definitely stop before going into California because Northern California along the coast is garbage. The redwoods are great but other than that it's just homeless people and poverty.
Another great drive would be to Central Oregon (Bend) or to Crater Lake.
Duck fans are prissy spoiled brats that haven't won anything, but I might be biased... They recruit purely on facilities and flash. They would be your lawyers, social science majors etc. Oregon State is your more "down to earth" school... The farmers and engineers.
Oregon gets it's liberal reputation from the I-5 corridor from about Portland to Eugene but other than those places it's a bunch of conservative gun-loving farmers. The state's brand of libralism was more libertarian than liberal until the recent invasion of Californians that all of the locals despise.
Beaver fans are pretty calm and humble. The only sports we are good at right now are baseball, women's basketball and a couple other random sports. We were good at football for about a decade and then have been bad for the last decade.
Enjoy your trip!

Flying into Seattle and renting a car is MUCH cheaper. Got a flight on reserve until tomorrow from New Orleans to Seattle, round trip, for $310. Got a rental car lined up from Seattle for about $120 for 4 days. Waiting to hear from a friend who may/may not be able to go who has a connection near Corvallis for a decent priced hotel room. If that comes through, then I am going to pull the trigger.
The ride from Seattle to Corvallis is about 3 hours...but I figure it is a place I have never seen so the ride might be interesting.

If I do pull the trigger and make the trip, what is the golf like in the area?
I would prefer to play something better than a goat ranch, but not as pricey as Augusta National. Any suggestions within 20 miles or so of town? I Googled it and there appear to be a LOT of courses in the area.
Edit: Would like to spend no more than $50ish to play

Great time of year to be up there.
Yes. If I make the trip, I will be giving away about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. It is supposed to be 97 in BR this weekend as compared to 68-70 in Corvallis. A 4-day reprieve from the heat alone makes this trip a great idea.

Did you see "me" get put in handcuffs? Arrested?
I have never sold pass out tickets to a baseball game. Ever.

It says 256 miles and it is straight down the interstate. Please tell me the speed limit isn't 65 or some crap...

I've golfed a few local courses but nothing spectacular and certainly not enough to feel comfortable making a recommendation. Most of the high quality golfing is in Central Oregon or Bandon I think.
Seattle to Corvallis is at least 4 hours, maybe 5. But I still don't think it's a bad idea to fly to Seattle and drive to Corvallis if you have time.
You kind of have to get off of I-5 if you want to see the best parts of Oregon though.

Oh, and there's a really accurate documentary called "Portlandia" that's about Portland if you wisely avoid Portland while you're here but are curious what it's like.

Sorry you’re not going to be able to make the trip. I hope all is well with you. You’re a very important fan for the baseball team and we could really use your energy up there so please try to make it up there if possible.
I do have one question...how much did it cost you to get those K’s made? I’ve been contemplating getting some made and doing the same thing you do. Definitely wouldn’t hang them in your territory FWIW.
Also is that a little backpack you hold them in? Any other tips you could possibly give me I’d appreciate it.

So because you don’t have $2,300 you have to hate on those who do?

Second Multnomah Falls, but skip the absurd lines at Voodoo and check out LSU grad Rob Herkes at NOLA donuts. He’s been slowly rising his way to the top of the donut scene out there. Great guy.

You have a lot in common with LSU.
