Not gonna have selections with our OC has an offense ranked 106th.

Or maybe, just maybe it has more to do with the lack of personnel affecting the offense, as these selections so clearly indicate....

Again, Miles was fired for this. There was significant deterioration of the offense and the players that wanted to come here because of that. The QB culture was DISMAL.

O has had to rely on QB transfers to power this program through while trying to change that perception. It is a MONUMENTAL TASK. Every coach in America was using this against us.

I think recruits are started to buy into it the fact there is a change happening and it is slowly paying off. JB was a great start. Now other QB's have followed. It takes time, and people just do not realize how bad the personnel and depth got at certain positions on the team.

And yet, we continued to pull in highly rated recruits like Brennan.

This thread shouldnt turn into a coaching vs. players debate.

The facts are BOTH coaching and the players are major issues.

Jonathan Giles was a finalist for the Belitnekoff and was AllBig 12and he sucks.

He doesn't suck, but you can watch him play and see he doesn't have an extra gear, or size. You can see that.

He may have padded his stats in the TT system, but even Ole Miss kicked their arse.

It's a chicken/egg thing. Hard to tell if it's the players or the coaching staff. Considering LSU's history, I'd say it's the coaching staff.

Well, Giles was 2nd team all Big 12 at WR, a pass happy conference.

At LSU , he had 6 receiving yards

ETA: I made up the yards

I would not agree. I think our offensive talent is about equal to Vandy's if you take out the freshman wide receivers, whch are extremely talented but not really developed yet. Their offensive line is better than LSU's. Running backs? I'd guess Vandy is better. Burrow is probably better than their QB, but I'll admit I didn't see them enough to tell.

LINK

LSU #4

Vandy #45

Vandy must have very good coaching to get that level of talent disparity to play better than LSU in the SAME fricking conference.

He is either a slow speed receiver or a possession receiver with bad hands.

What is he good at?

Brennan, and?

Good programs are bringing in 2 Brennans a year. We aren't (or at least haven't been for a long time). Mett, JB, Etling, all transfer QB's. Just think about that for a moment.

Brennan needed a lot of time to grow and develop. He's getting there.

Yes, we were able to get some players... but not enough to have depth. Depth is how Alabama can just keep rolling. We have not be able to get enough great players to sustain a top level after all our good ones declare.

That's the difference, and it's sad that no one here understands it.

Honestly, I think you could have gone to 3rd team all SEC and possibly not gotten any LSU offensive selections.

Thats a lie. LSU has gotten no shortage of elite QB's on campus only to not coach them and then has to rely on a transfer who has been coached.

List them.

Forget JJ and JL.

Tell me about the last truly elite kid out of HS we've landed.

No one on the offensive side of the ball stood out.

QB? probably 5th or 6th best in the league if your generous.

RB? Nope.

WR? No one was a standout. Jefferson is likely closest, but by most metrics he wasn't a superstar.

TE?

OL?

Simply put, the talent may be there, but they did not perform like it. Plain and simple. Not a knock on the kids.

Well, Brumfield was the only one on the preseason list (2nd team) and he got hurt. So it's not like this is some big shock anyway.

I'm not sure what you expect exactly, but this list of 4* players should have been more than enough to provide an adequate passing game for LSU.

That's mostly because preseason lists are generally full of returning starters which we didnt have a ton of on offense.

However, let's not kid ourselves if Brumfield played this entire seasons he still wouldnt have been close to All-SEC. The guy was benched for poor play once or twice for a true freshman that had nothing to do with an injury. He fairly routinely got owned. In 5 of the 8 games he played in PFF gave him a grade of UNDER 57, and that's bad.

Excellent job of proving just how bad the star system can be.

HS after HS QB that we signed did not pan out here and many didn't pan out elsewhere either.

Retig flamed out here, Rutgers and Tenn Tech. Harris bombed at NC. Jennings did little at USL. Randall didn't do much at Arizona and didn't Narcisse get beat out at JC?
The best QB we had that transferred out was McMillan and he was s three star.

The fact is we have had poor QB recruiting, the Stars lie.
