Considering how many great teams there in the sec is certainly possible especially if the best teams have this record or similar

Well we look pretty good @ #9 this weekend.
Win today and we can cruise to 20 conference wins and a (likely) top 8 natty seed (10-8 down the stretch)

Next 3 weekends are going to be brutal
Few SEC weekends are easy. Here are the next 3 SEC series:
@ Auburn (5-5)
vs Alabama (6-4)
vs Tennessee (9-1)
I would contend that Auburn is no better than Oklahoma and Bama is very similar though probably better but we are playing at the Box. Tennessee is over anything resembling easy though. I expect LSU to come out of the next 3 series with 6 wins at a minimum. Even if LSU does not win today, that would equate to 15 wins with 3 SEC series, 9 games, to go. Those series will be
@ Texas A&M(1-9)
vs Arkansas(9-1)
@ South Carolina(2-8)
If LSU can avoid a sweep and win 4 of 6 games against teams that are 3-17 Cumulatives then they will be at 20 wins.
And our two toughest remaining series, by far, are both played in the friendly confines of Alex Box

Looking at what we have done right now we are 9-2 vs 4 teams with a cumulative record of 14-25 in SEC play. 9 wins in 11 games so far.
We will play 6 teams with a cumulative record of 32-28. If we lose today and can go 9-3 versus Auburn, Alabama, aTm, and South Carolina with a cumulative record of 14-26 in SEC play then we will need to win 1 each vs Tenner and Arky to reach 20 SEC wins.
That does not seem at all far-fetched. But whatever
And it is baseball, so certainty does not exist, as I know you know because I know you are not a casual.

SEC had 5 national seeds last year
Considering two SEC teams made the finals last year and this year looks stacked again I would imagine there will be 5 national seeds again
That likely means 17 or 18 wins

an all time loaded SEC
Seems the SEC is not as deep this year. Very top heavy

That is why where you fall in the conference standings is important. If LSU has 18 wins but is #6 in the conference, that will probably not earn them a national seed.

5-5
6-4
in the SEC
Tennessee is an elite team.
Auburn and Bama are 2nd tier SEC teams. Which means they’re good but it’s not Ark, Tenn, UGA back to back to back

We played Missouri and Mississippi State. Don’t get ahead of ourselves. There’s some monsters to play in the remaining schedule.

18 wins won’t finish 6th. More like 3/4th. Too many will start beating up on each other.

Ima choked. I read on this board just a couple of weeks ago that lsu sucked at baseball and should cancel the rest of the season.

there are like 3-4 teams with the schedule to really run away with the SEC. thats just the luck of the draw.
Arkansas plays like 6 of the bottom 7 teams. and the bottom

quote:Missouri is terrible but State is actually a really good scrappy team, outside of our Sunday game with them they played everybody really close just go look at the scores it like 3 runs or less, one hit here or there and they’re probably 7-4, 8-3. LSU should’ve won the Texas series and it’s obvious Jay learned his lesson since we’ve seen Evans getting extended innings. We played 2 of the top 5 pitchers in the conference this year so far and won both games against them, that’s impressive.

Absolute must to win one of those series. I think getting a national seed without it is likely, but looking far ahead to potential seeding in Omaha. It may not matter in the long run, but for the fans going through regional and super regional looking at brackets and potential match ups, I'd rather be a top 4 seed.
